Joe won pretty convincingly to me. Sure he wasn’t hurting Hopkins, but that hardly matters does it? Hopkins knocked him down n got his credit for it. N then joe slippy slapped him around for the entire fight. A scoring shot is a scoring shot. Without relatively evenly spaced out highly effective eye catching power shots to balance out joes constant superficial slapping...there’s only one way to score it. I feel like you’re trying to compare it to a fight like Bradley vs provodnikov where brads landed far more scoring punches but ruslan scored massive brain rattling power shots. However, even though Hopkins did score and he did so with what you might call “better” shots...they weren’t “holy moly how the hell is calzaghe still standing” shots. Hopkins scored a knockdown n got the points for it (provodnikov didn’t even get credit for a knockdown/TKO he scored on brads), but Joe threw more and landed more for the big majority of rounds. It’s pretty simple and it’s not controversial.

I watched it today, and very carefully. It was not the fight I remembered, Calzaghe looked terrible. I’ve been watching Calzaghe and Hopkins fights recently, both great fighters. I was hesitant to watch their fight again because I remembered how frustrating it was to watch.
I put it on and that was my score. Calzaghe clearly lost that fight.

What rounds did you score for Calzaghe? I gave him three rounds and I still found it difficult to give him those.

What scoring shots? Calzaghe would throw flurries of slaps that would get the crowd and commentators excited, then when you slow it down or look carefully nothing landed while he got countered, repeat for twelve rounds. Even if they did land, how can you score arm slaps? If they aren’t proper punches they aren’t scoring punches, they had absolutely nothing on them.

For the people that had Calzaghe winning, how do you explain Enzo’s comments and behaviour? He never acted like that before or since. He told Joe that he needed a knock out in the last round. He screamed it, and told Joe that the 11th round was the first round that he had done what he was supposed to do.

And the yank was 40 years old and the Britisher was in his prime and barely scraped a debatable decision and ya'll celebrated like ya'll won the superbowl.

Don’t bring your hurt feelings in here, deal with the question at hand. Aren’t you the 15 year old kid?
Everybody, this guy is 15 years old and thinks he knows something about boxing :risas3:

He was 43, Calzaghe was no spring chicken himself (36). Hopkins won easily either way. I think the white boy comment and the acting made people celebrate that BS.

Trust me, I’m not angry at all. And don’t take it personally, I’d think any 15 year old commenting on any topic (apart from Pokemon, Hannah Montana etc.) is a joker to be laughed at. I think it’s adorable that you’re trying to become a boxing fan and giving opinions about old time fighters and the sport. You should have kept your age to yourself and you could have fit in with the herd of uneducated fans here.
I think many others are idiots who don’t know what they’re watching, you’re just a child who doesn’t know what he is watching. I have to entertain others opinions as having some basis, as having something to address. When I see your posts I know that it’s not even worth discussing boxing with you, you don’t know anything about yourself or the sport. I’m sorry but that’s what it is, and why you shouldn’t have said your age.

It is controversial simply because a lot of people thought Hopkins won. It doesn't mean that they are right, but from a factual basis it makes the outcome of the fight controversial. I thought it was a close and bad fight - the kind of fight that makes it very difficult to score objectively. I had it for Hopkins by a few points but I'm a Hopkins fan.

    Announcers were bias toward calzaghie.
I could count on two hands how many clean punches calzaghie landed in the first 7 rounds and he got dropped.
Joe and his dad were so frustrated the whole night.
    After 11
Wtf are you f ing doing.

    Hays cheatin

    I don’t give a ****... you need a knockout.
I respect calzaghie for throwing a lot, and putting on the pressure but he didn’t win that fight.
    That was vintage Bhop.
