It’s not an overreaction. He’s been given a belt against a complete nobody who’s ranked as the 8th best in Germany and since disappeared from all rankings. Billy Joe needs to step up. There’s no bias, only from you. If you look in the Smith thread I said he needs to step up. Saunders has fought Lemieux and a young Eubank who if the fight was a rounder longer would have won. Why can’t you just admit he needs to step up. This is a British world champion in his prime years, I don’t care who he’s with. I want him in the best fights possible. He’s just a waste of talent at the minute.
Everyone, especially Bill's fans, agrees that he needs to step up but when all of his best options are tied up or looking at alternative fights what can he do exactly other than fight a ranked opponent? He's literally just tried to step up against Smith in a massive fight where the physical advantages lie entirely with Smith and he's been rebuffed. There's no point listing opponents who are tied up or not interested in fighting Saunders. Please do share your insight on the "cans" in the rankings though since you started this thread to slate them all. As I said I don't know about a good few of them. Before you accuse me of bias, I concede that Bill probably should have fought Andrade now rather than pick up the easy belt because there are no good options at SMW. It would have been a far bigger win. However, everyone can see the logic in picking up that belt. It was bait for Smith who doesn't want a piece of Saunders.
“There’s no point in listing opponents who are not interested in fighting Saunders” Yet you keep banging on about Smith. I told you on page 1 of that thread there was not a chance Sky / Matchroom would allow it. You know it, I know it, the whole forum does. I asked for examples of either stable allowing fighters to fight on each other’s shows and there wasn’t one apart from below British level and years ago. Never mind one of Matchrooms stars. As for tied up he can wait a week on Saturday and then he will have Plant/ Lee free, a couple of days later Chudinov would be free, would it be the worst thing in the world to wait a week or two and maybe push your show back (which has absolutely nothing on it so far, nor tickets sold) a month or so and go for a unification with the Plant/Lee winner? Or go for a recognised name and former world champion in Chudinov, the fact he’s faced Groves gives it a back story - “Can BJS better what Groves done”. Ramirez is free, Uzcategui is free. Even Juergen Braemer would be better than most of that WBO top 10. Saunders really could’ve went down as an ATG. When he retires we will back instead and say quality fighter who wasted his peak years.
Also free. Make him an offer and move back down? Or make him an offer to come up. There’s no shortage of options.
Last time a Matchroom fighter signed to fight Billy Joe he failed a drugs test and has a track record of pulling out of fights, so I can understand why Callum Smith signing to fight him and if he does I cant see him doing it on BT as he would lose money doing so.
Young Christopher says. It's funny, it's funny. I haven't thought about the guy for years really," he exclusively tells Starsport. "If we're talking about who's thinking about who, without me he's really nobody. Nobody would know his name if it wasn't for me and our fight. "The fact he got a decision over me, that's what made him known as a fighter and that's all he really clings onto. "He's not a likeable guy. He's done a lot of bad things. He's a drug cheat, he's been taken to court, there are these viral videos of him taking advantage of vulnerable people. He's a bad guy and he's paid the price for it. This content is protected "I want the rematch to happen now that he's got the belt, a belt that I don't feel he deserved. "He is a drug cheat, so for him to be able to fight for a world title in his second fight back is disgraceful in my opinion. "But he's got the belt, so that means he's back on the radar for me. If that fight can be made, I'm all for it." "He's still looking for those big-money fights," he says. "He's never had one before, which is why he's dying to fight me, which is why he's talking about me now, because he's got his title and he now thinks he can get his big-money fights. "But I'm not gonna start the fight from the sixth round this time, which is what I did in the first fight. "The fact I only started the fight halfway through and it was still a split decision, that says it all really. This content is protected The Brighton man is adamant he would 'destroy' Saunders in a rematch (Pic: GETTY) "Since then, I've never ever done that again because I've learned from my mistake. "I'm a seasoned pro now, I know what to do. I know what I am, I know what he is and I know I'd destroy him in the rematch. "From round one, not from round six."
Can't disagree with young Eubank's sentiments. People like to sugar coat over the fact that BJS is a renowned drug cheat who abused vulnerable people until he got found out and shamed. These things were not going to stop until it jeopardized his public image. If the camera's weren't there he'd have carried on abusing drug addicts, abusing animals and abusing homeless people on the street who he sees as his entertainment. He'd have carried on taking steroids had he not been caught. He's a piece of work that needs punishing
Based on Saunders over the last two years? A fight at Cruiserweight and getting rocked by isufi? I’d make Eubank the favourite at SMW.
I’m not a fan of Saunders as a person but as a boxing fan it’s got to be acknowledged that there are levels of boxing skill between BJS & Junior. Both aren’t 168’s. That said, I have grown fond of Junior lately, he seems a good kid and he’s very entertaining to watch. If BJS turned up in that condition again, Junior would outwork him, however, Davison seems to have him in great condition so I can see him bossing it much like Groves did to him.
Saunders has done absolutely **** all since that Lemieux win. 2 years later he’s fought at cruiserweight once and once against the mighty Isufi whom he flattered to deceive against. It’s time we stop saying BJS is a top talent until he proves it.
Green novice youngster CHRIS lost a debatable split decision against Saunders in what was the young war machine’s first ever outing over twelve rounds. He’s now a well seasoned pro over the distance and against a half hearted trainer like Saunders would take him into deep water and drown him. Break his heart. Make him quit even. I’m told Saunders has shown bullying traits outside of the ring well if he is truly a bully deep down, he’ll QUIT when someone like Eubank forces him to dig deeper than he’s ever had to before. Much like how the chinny robot - the archetypal flat track bully - QUIT against the tubby Mexican the first time he was forced to take a fight outside of his back garden.
Fair enough, but we must then level the same criticism at Junior over the past 2 years. James Degale was sadly shot to pieces. I thought he could still beat him I was wrong. Junior beat him savagely but Degale’s decline was significant and clear for all to see. JJ McDonagh...pudding who took a dive. Groves did a number on him. He put him in a box and contained him. He even boxed him with 1 arm for the last 2 minutes of the round where he’s supposed to gas. Abraham was utterly shot. Yildirim was a good win, no criticism there. It’s not been hugely impressive last couple of years for Junior either. High profile at times but we’re not daft, us boxing fans can strip these things back and judge what’s under the bonnet. He’s not won a (proper) world title. He hasn’t achieved anything. So if we’re going to slate Saunders then let’s be consistent.
Them names absolutely **** on Saunders last two years. He needs to prove what level he’s at. Adamu at Cruiserweight and Isufi (Germany’s 8th best Super Middle) aren’t cutting it for me.
