Pernell. Mayweathers best defense was keeping distance not being in the pocket. Whitaker could stand right in front of his opponent and make him miss. Dude was like Neo.

False, Mayweather defense was made to counter punch while being in the pocket and not getting hit cleanly, not for distance.

You know video exists right? We can all see what Floyd does, apart from you for some reason.

His defense may have been made for that but what he actually does is keep a safe distance and move in to punch.

Can't believe people have forgotten about George Benton, who was Pernell Whitaker's trainer. Very skilled defensive fighter up close without needing to use his legs to avoid punches.

Listen to what u just said. If he's at a safe distance, why would he be in a defensive stance? He's in his defensive stance when he's in the pocket and his opponent is in range to land a punch. So the shoulder then comes into play.

See, this is what I mean when I say that you don’t know anything about boxing.
There are many reasons for doing that. Primarily to invite an attack for a counter punch. In boxing a defensive stance triggers a desire in your opponent to attack. It would be easy for you to point to a fight where Floyd stands in the pocket and combines offence with defence. That fight doesn’t exist. There were moments in the Canelo fight against a sluggish opponent, beyond that it’s not Floyd’s style. He was not an inside fighter, he was safety first all the way.

Attack a straw man and disappear, just what I would expect someone of your intellect to do.

Looks like you defending something made up. I have no idea what you are saying or trying to imply. But then again, Im not the smartest man in the world. Please bear with me. Do you think I should watch the first Castillo fight to see where Floyd does not use his feet for defense? I mean the guy is praised for his ability to stick and move to go along with his lateral movement.

U don't have to be smart, but if u think it's made up, then u just don't have the knowledge of this matter. Mayweather has many other ways he uses defense. The shoulder role is the main one. He also uses a high guard defense as well, but i guess that's made up too lol. If u don't know, then u don't know. Just don't speak on what u don't know, or what ur not aware of. Just listen and learn.
