Kovalev isn’t quite what he was but he isn’t shot at all, if Yarde beats kovalev then I will personally be very shocked and he instantly proves himself as one of the division’s best. I fully expect kovalev to win.
This is why I’m struggling to think Yarde has a chance. Somebody with his low level of experience doesn’t just get in with kovalev and take him out.
I still have my doubts that the fight actually happens. I will only believe it when I see him in the ring.
Not digging at Yarde here, i’m digging at Tunde....genuine question, what does Kovalev do to Reeves, Sequeira, Sek or Averlant if he faced them? My point is, Kovalev absolutely bingo’s all 4 on same night. Yet, these opponents are his preparation for a world title challenge. They’re many many levels below the threat of Kovalev.
Completely agree. That’s what was so good for Dubois with Lartey. Clearly not a world level operator but he weren’t there to take a cheque or be a punch bag. He came and fought, chin checked Dubois a couple of times and dragged him in to murky waters. Yarde is yet to have that opponent.
Credit that this is now on boxrec and officially pencilled in, as this is a big step up for the much ridiculed Yarde. I can’t help but feel that one of these two men gets a serious injury in the run up, and the fight is cancelled. It just doesn’t feel right to me, based on Yarde only having faced one fighter in the worlds top 50. It doesn’t pass the sniff test.
Can't wait! Anythings possible but surely Kov wins, i'd be creaming my knicks if I was Yarde, huge step up.
I think the shot shout is because he’s clearly past his prime. He was brilliant last time out so there’s still a high level fighter in there - just not what he was.
Nah didn’t say you were, just agreeing it would be a good win as kovalev still has the ability and showed it in the Álvarez rematch.
When Frank Warren says “it is on”, he’s not playing about. I hope Warren goes out there with Tunde and Yarde and walks him out to the ring screaming “lions”.
