Brant was being brutalized but murata was gassing, right at the bell are you kidding me. If there's a Third round this is a different story.. Trilogy on neutral turf, Vegas.
Brant got hit with everything & the kitchen sink don't get me wrong. The ref stopped it right at the corner. Brant is a mule, he was recovering he protested the stoppage with his wits & legs under him
Not the worst stoppage, Brant took a beating and didn’t throw anything significant back so I understand why the ref stopped it.
Refs stop fights WAY too quickly today. Back when I began following boxing in the late 70s and 80s, while there were some premature stoppages (Dokes-Weaver is a classic example that still stands out in my mind as sickening), they were MUCH more rare. Today's refs - and some boxing fans - just don't seem to have the intestinal fortitude that they did in the "old days." ****, we even get fans complaining when refs actually let the action go! WTF! In my day, fans were rightfully angry when ANY fight was stopped early. It was even better in the early to mid 20th century. Back then, refs let FIGHTERS determine the outcome of a fight, as it should be. We should go back to that approach.
The ref gave him a chance to fight back. But, when a guy who throws a million punches isn't throwing back and is getting wailed on (Compubox counted Murata landing 64 power punches in the second, the most they've ever tracked in a middleweight round), what option did he have? The stoppage was fine. Brant's a tough mofo, and the ref did his job.
This content is protected Wasn't a bad stoppage imo, Brant was out on his feet and taking clean punches non stop. MOFO needs to learn how to clinch lol
I just saw the ending, Brant's hands were up pretty much the entire time but he was getting knocked around like a rag doll and was stumbling around. He wasn't in good shape at all. And the final shots when the ref stepped in, he had just been staggered again into the ropes.
Fair stoppage, and it could have been stopped even earlier. No way Brant was coming back from such a beating. Referee was on the verge of stopping it a couple of time before finally waving it off.
Brant was on his way to intensive care and brain bleed surgery if the fight continued. Good stoppage considering he had been given every chance by the ref o get back into the fight,
