Work rate doesn’t win a fight. The work you do still has to outweigh what the other fighter does in each round. That didn’t happen. You score a fight on what happened. You disrespecting Calzaghe and comparing Hopkins to what he used to be just shows that you have no objectivity when it comes to this fight, your opinion is worthless.
This is a fight you have to watch closely, not on a treadmill. Calzaghe throws a six punch combination and a handful of those punches look like they made contact in real time. Then you actually look closely and/or slow it down and you can see he actually landed nothing, and that Hopkins placed a sneaky counter in between that flurry that got missed or was judged as less significant compared to the work that Calzaghe did. The fight wasn’t even close.
thats not the complete truth, ward made more unified defences as did froch. as did sven otkke by a large margin, though again with a lot more cheating that calzaghe

I was just enjoying a run and watching the fight mate, I wasn't closely examining it and doing my own punch count. I just thought I would offer my opinion as I watched it very recently. It is certainly a fight I won't be watching again so you are probably barking up the wrong tree.
umno i said recognised at the time. joes wbo ones only became recognised when the wbo were only recognised when made after and including lacy. so he had lacy manfredo bika kessler. 4 fully recognised ones, and yes 17 unrecognised. bhops were never invalid. its still good though I am not knocking having 4 defences.
If you have to judge fightd It's insurance on Hopkins part. If Hopkins dominates he doesn't pull out his nonsense (think the Trinidad and Kelly fights). If it is reasonable close he starts to act. Hopkins knew Roy could put together some flashy punches and steal rounds and he didn't want to risk it. So out came the overacting.
Only one guy won. If both were doing it, one was only doing it because it was being done to him. Only one is known for using it as a part of his technique.
There were so great fighters who were WBO champions before 2004. Hamed-1995. Freitas Winky Wright, Hearns, etc. But we can agree to disagree.
course there were. i am just telling you facts, which were recognised which werent. As long as you arent disputing them its fine.
All the abc belts are crap BUT if the IBF and WBC counts, so does the WBO. Plus in Joe's case, he was the best super middleweight and he proved it by winning all the belts.
