I’m inclined to disagree. If Warren didn’t want the fight to happen, it wouldn’t have happened- no way. I believe he ideally would have wanted to wait, but the young guns in his office probably pursuded him that it’s the right time.
Going to bed now babes, but I’ve been to more fights in Vegas and New York than you can even dream about, I’ve seen the greats of the last 2 decades, the lot. I doubt you have. I never said he wasn’t, but the 50/50 talk was embarrassing and you cant back out of that now.
You (and a few others) called it. I wasn’t sold on the lad. I am now though. It’s not even his athleticism...he’s a very good underrated (by me previously) boxer. Worked everything off a very good jab. That’s what impressed me most of all, his jab. Bossed it.
Ok thanks redshite hidden behind klopp photo. Just annoying tbh when, let’s be honest, be we are all passionate boxing fans and we all generally knows our stuff, but we have to listen to ‘its a 50/50 fight’ bollocks for the last few months. Absolute nonsense.
I was rewatching the highlights just now, his combos are brutal and come in from all angles actually M Tyson esque. Overhand rights, bilateral sweeping hooks to the body, the works. If he adds the uppercut in as well, game over.
The Bookmaker's odds had the fight down as 4/6, 13/8 in favour of Dubois - not exactly typical of the 1/100 odds on paraded on Sky week after week. Credit to both for taking the fight and Dubois simply better than people thought.
People always go overboard and always will. They probably are again here with some comments. I didn’t fancy Gorman to be that good anyway but I think Dubois performed brilliant regardless of how poor Gorman was. Dubois is very young and has great attributes to allow him to go far. We will still never know until he fights proven higher level opposition which I think Gorman proved tonight he is not.
It’s worth remembering though that Gorman is still only a kid, he’s 23. He showed a lot of immaturity in that fight trying to swing hooks with a big puncher like Dubois when he’s been anything but in his previous 16 fights. He’s done well just outboxing his opponents rather than throwing with them. He’ll get stronger and he’ll improve from that over the next few years.
Obviously it was better fight than the clowns on sky would put on, but it was never 50/50 even given dubious young age
Prior to the fight I would have had it 60/40 in favour of Gorman never mind 50/50. I just believed the boxer would befuddle the puncher. I’m fine with being proven totally wrong. In retrospect, it turns out the puncher can’t half box and we have a serious prospect on our hands. I’m excited about the future of Dubois. Joyce also showed a serious chin tonight. People talk about Whyte being 4th best in the world but he might only be 4th best in his own country at this rate.
