I think that's what shocked Gorman. He had put so much stock in the sparring sessions but Dubois is a different beast now and that rang home very early for Gorman.
This is what happens when you get hit back you get exposed. Ruiz did it to AJ and Dubois did it to Gorman which is simply put them in a place they had never been before....under pressure and with no idea how to deal with it as never experienced it. Gorman was made to look a mug
Gormans got a good left hook and he’s got quick counters but not much else. No straight right or jab. Can comeback but needs a few more strings to his bow. Leaning back to throw a counter left hook always going to be open for that big right hand which DDD has in abundance
If your big and built then on this forum you will be slandered mercilessly. I can only assume the majority here have weight issues and have a bad case of body envy..
In some cases (the bodybuilder) it's obvious that he's carrying loads of pumped up useless muscle that he doesn't need and actually probably is a hinderedce to him. Dubois on the other hand is naturally a big guy with good muscle tone, he's not "pumped up" like the bodybuilder
Personally no. I like Leapai but he doesn't have the workrate that Dubois has and only really looks to land his overhand right, which would allow Gorman to settle into the fight if they did fight. Gorman felt Dubois' power and couldn't keep Dubois off him hence the decision to try and trade wiith him which was never gonna end well for Gorman. Gorman would have cruised to a shut out win over Leapai I feel.
I’m confused - Hughie Fury not carrying enough muscle, Joshua too much, Gorman the wrong type of muscle - seems only Ruiz has got it right!
Never rated Gorman, doesn't move his feet quick enough to fight the way he wants to fight. Also doesn't hit hard enough to challenge at HW. Can't believe how many people had Gorman to win before the bell. DDD a much better boxer than he gets credit for. He will win a world title.
He seemed really invested in that counter left hook, which worked well at first. Dubois then double and tripled the jab to mess up his timing and Gorman didn't seem to have an answer for it. Dubois' power must be pretty legit to deter someone like that too, especially with his jab which was causing some damage. Gorman still has plenty about him. Still pretty quick and throws good combinations. Perhaps needs to mentally mature a little as he seemed to lose his head a bit in the fight and stop thinking. Foolish to ignore how he looked prior to this fight really. Let him fight a can, then take on another British level fighter.
