Herbie Hide vs Tommy Morrison in ´94

Morrison was very easy to hit.

 

Louis was harder to hit than Morrison though that`s the difference.

 

A shock win here from Hide .. Catching Morrison early and stopping him in 2 round s !

 

No, actually he wasn't so easy to hit as you suppose.

 

Setting my objections aside, which version of Morrison turns up?

Morrison was a model of bad preparation for fights.

He had better not turn up to this fight in poor condition, because Hide would not!

 

If the bout is held in Norwich, Herbie gets rid of him quick. If the bout is in America, I like Morrison. I sure do not think either was any sort of road warrior and capable of going in the lion's den for a win.

The bout was on that China card that Arum cancelled because it was not going to make money. I had a lot on Hide because there is no way Morrison was training hard in China and lets say, without distractions. He would have been doing everything except preparing for a fight.

 

Lots of excuses for Morrison.
He didn't lose to Michael Bentt because of "bad preparation". He lost because he went for the kill and got caught. His chin couldn't handle it.
Bentt was a good fighter, I'd followed him since the amateurs.
Morrison's reputation is built on old washed-up men.
But he didn't have much of a reputation in the 1990s anyway. He was considered a second-rater at best, but an attractive box office fighter.
I don't know why he gets rated so much higher now ... I guess a combination of nostalgia and his tragic career and death.

Hide-Morrison is almost 50-50 because Hide's chin was possibly even more dismal than Morrison's. But Hide probably has the edge with his speed and his footwork. Either way, this doesn't last long.

 

Hide did to Bentt what Morrison probably thought he'd do to him, although I still think Hide Morrison would have been a close fight.

 

If Morrison fought Hide like he fought Foreman he wins. That night he fought as an outboxer. He was cautious, stayed behind his jab and didn't get into range for Foreman to land one of his sledgehammer clubbing blows.
If he fought like he did against Bentt as a slugger Hide had the speed, enough power to cause an upset.

 

But Hide had quicker hands and feet than Morrison whereas Foreman was a walking mummy.

 

We know the script, both had weak chins though Morrison would often rise from the canvas to win & i would pick him to stop Hide after a few early scares, Hide could punch but had no chin, Klitschko knocked him unconscious with a jab & i believe Morrison would have stopped him.

 

Two glass cannons with a big punch anything could happen, but I'd pick a fully motivated more proven Heavyweight Tommy Morrison by KO in under 6 rounds.

 

Both men had the power to stop the other. Both early starters with fast hands. Neither were terribly durable. I’d say it just depends who gets in trouble first. Probably a good fight though

 

Forgetting the Bentt fight, Morrison went lots of rounds with Mercer, Lewis, and Ruddock where he ate some pretty heavy shots. I think he would stop Hide early more often than not.
