I've rated him for years. Some of his domestic wins were brilliant, such as Concoran. Now he's at MW he's battering everyone in his way. Some good chances for him to make some money now.
This content is protected Would someone like him fancy this as an easy nights work? Think William's would put up a good effort
Oh was at the 1st Liam Smith fight, it was one of the best nights I've had at boxing, you know one of those nights where you get right into it and your going crazy and everyone is stood up. That fight, as it was mentioned earlier in the thread was a fight of 2 halves, with Williams dominating the early rounds and by the time of the stoppage, Smith was coming on really strong. I do think that maybe Smith would of got the stoppage minus the headbutt as Williams hadn't paced himself well. In the rematch Smith got in Williams head. Putting them fights to one side, Williams has looked good in all the others and sat night he looked awesome. Maybe he is better at mw or maybe it was all down to Smith work8ng him over, I suppose it's a bit of both but at me he's looking fantastic so far. He's deep one of our best chances of wining world titles.
And hopefully he does it. With 2 losses on his record, coming back better than ever and rising to the top would show a lot of these fighters who protect their “0” that greatness can still be achieved without it.
He's entertaining, talented and tough, he deserves to be in big fights, he has never hidden away from a challenge and, although some people think he's a d**k, I think the sport and the division needs him right now.
I can understand protecting an 0 tbh. Once a fighter gets beat it can take something away from them. It all boils down to how much it takes away and whether they can rebuild themselves back to how good they were or better. Someone like naz is a good example. He lost belief in himself after mab, another one is lacy or bute. These fighters build themselves up through the fights they take, they build a picture up of their ability as they go along. This picture is made up by the ideas they have about themselves and what others say about them, especially when they hear it from members if the boxing community, whether that be their trainer, other trainers, pundits, just about anyone with a valid opinion. They build a story up about themselves and then end up investing a lot of belief in that story. When things go wrong for them, then that picture they had about themselves gets shattered. Now most of that picture was never grounded in reality but it can leave a fighter in a right mess. What usually happens then is more story's and pictures are woven to give reasons for the loss. Some guys never get back to how they were and if they do it can be a long time. There are also examples where a loss didn't harm a fighters career or maybe even did him a favour as they came back stronger. What I'm trying to say, is there can be a big price for a loss, it's how the fighter deals with it but it's better avoided in the first place imo
Decent fighter but always comes across as a bully type, he doesn't like being hit back as shown in the Smith fights. I just can't warm to the guy, he's got a massive chip on his shoulder.
Fighting Andrew Robertson (not the Liverpool left back) next. Severely disappointing, looked like he was building some good momentum and then this is a clear backwards step. https://boxrec.com/en/proboxer/615085 Stopped by Heffron (who Williams stopped) in 6. Went the distance with Sharp who Williams stopped in 3.
