"Pacquiao hasn't had a KO in ten years!"

First off, that's not true. He knocked out Lucas Matthysse.

Secondly, it's not his fault that refs require him to kill someone to get a KO!

I think we can all agree that no one would argue if the ref had stopped the Margarito (especially this one), Rios, Algieri, and Horn fights.

Pacquiao took his foot off the gas against Rios (Pac offered Rios a sheepish grin and glove tap after a peach of a left hand) and Margarito. He was finishing Algieri in the 9th and then the ref literally pushed Pac off. Pac's back was turned as he thought the ref had waved off the fight. Horn also easily could have been a TKO victory.

That makes 4 KOs that could have all been warranted. I think the visual of a smaller man beating up much larger men just isn't as urgent.

pacman has been written off many times in the past justly. but when people on here thought rios would stop him i laughed my ass off. matthysse had a legitimate punchers chance, but even then pacman is about 3levels above him, he'd already had his ass tapped by Postol and looked vulnerable and shot vs kiram, Rios is just a punchbag meathead. crazy how people see it.

It wasn't that crazy a thought. Rios was in his prime, had power, impressive stamina, and a high workrate plus a significant size advantage. And Pac was coming off of a yearlong lay off after getting punched into another dimension by Roidquez.

no it was absolutely ****ing mental, pacquiao at 50 would beat a prime rios. trust me. Rios has stamina and chin, but looks like hes punching through custard and walking through strawberry preserve and had been outboxed by mike alvarado!!! LOL.
Rios has power? when did he show that? when he knocked out meth addicted alvarado in a rematch?

That PPV was laughed at and received a lot of criticism for being a PPV. Rios was not seen as a worthy foe, nor someone who should be headlining a PPV.
What made it even worse was the fact that it was in China.

And you are grasping for straws with those could have been stoppages.

DumbBot, no one would have complained if the Margarito, Horn, and Algieri fights were stopped. You trolling?

With Horn up several points, on his feet the whole time and with his wits... that would have been a wildly controversial stoppage with loads of outcry and led to an immediate rematch. It was a dominant round alright. But not warranting of a TKO. Maybe if Pac had won every round up until that point, sure.

I agree that the Margarito, Rios, and Algieri fights could have been stopped. I don't believe the Horn fight should have been stopped.

A ref's job is to see if a fighter is in any position to continue. Horn was all over the place and drunk and holding on for survival. That's why the ref told him to show him something or he would stop the fight. It wouldn't have been controversial at all.

Given all of the circumstances, Rios was in a good position to win. Pac just showed that he was just that great that night. A shot-to-smithereens Rios made Danny Garcia really uncomfortable just last year. Don't let hate steer you, son.

Nah, a loss doesn't hurt his legacy. But a win enhances it even more. May the best man win. I just hope that if he loses, he doesn't take a beating. I actually like Keith Thurman.
