Could Mayweather Jr make it undefeated fighting at Ray Robinson's schedule vs the same opposition

Mayweather beating Hall of Famers Oscar De La Hoya, Ricky Hatton, Juan Manuel Marquez and Shane Mosley in row wouldn't have been made much better if you removed one of those guys and stuck Kid Gavilan in there, honestly. They are all all-time greats.

 

One thing that might be getting lost is that the #30 ranked guy in 1947 might of been quite a bit tougher than the current#30 just as an example. Simply put there were more good fighters around then.

It's not about having 100 wins though. You just said in his post that Floyd would go undefeated with 100+ fights which is very unreasonable.

Del a Hoya and Mosely were very far past there primes, Hatton is no where near as good as Gavalin (and I'm from about 5 minutes from where hes from) and Marquez isn't anywhere near Gavalin pfp imo and either way none of them have a claim to top 5 in a historical division

Of course you would say yes, but the reality is, he wouldn't even step in the ring with guys Robinson fought, let alone remain undefeated if he did fight them. It's a big NO in my book

No. Mayweather was very controlled and calculating about who he fought, and when he fought them. He would not come out unscathed on SRR's schedule.

Mayweather had a way of catching both my eye and the eye of the judges in those rare fights that were close, so I regard his undefeated mark as legitimate. I do think he'd suffer losses in Robinson's era, but I suspect he'd do very well in that time period and in any other.

 

Mayweather`s prep for fights was awesome, he got up at 2:00am packing sessions in as part of a routine for fights, he got his timing and practise from this prep, with much less time between fights he wouldn`t have enough time for drills on his moves and would be more sluggish.

 

Yeah, I don't see Mayweather facing the middleweights that SRR faced as early as he did.

I think it more likely that Floyd would have stayed at Lightweight for as long as he could, in order to maximize the reach advantage he'd have over the majority of his foes. He'd likely venture to higher weights only when it was physically impossible for him to make weight.

 

Floyd would be too small and weak to fight the middles that Robi fought, Turpin would probably stop him because of his power, so would Graziano, no way could Floyd beat a middle of LaMotta`s class, Floyd started at super feather.
