Then why is he the only active youngish fighter that will fight anybody on the planet Earth and bring the fight to them? You know what you are going to get with Porter. He fights the best before they get over the hill. Everybody this guy fights is in their prime. And he throws hard shots the entire fight non stop. And I thought he beat Thurman too.
I've never heard anyone call him a bum. I don't doubt there's a troll or a dumbass who may have made such a statement but the topic is definitely not thread worthy. Porter is a very good B level opponent. He has the talent and will to be a high level B fighter, even enough to pick up a title, but lacks the fundamental skills or unique skillset to ever reign as the king in any division.
I really like Shawn Porter, he is a top guy, very likeable and has a bit of charm too. His fight with Thurman was a good close fight, but Thurman was for sure the winner. Porter is a good fighter, far from a bum, he is top 10 in his division for sure, around the 5-8 mark. Considering that WW is stacked that is not too bad.
Some Kell Brook fans used to call him a bum, but that's just fanboys. But I agree. Porter is good enough to win belts, but not to keep them.
I give him credit he is a x2 time champ so he has to get props for that. Skill-wise he is C class. Uses his head a battering ram, absolutely terrible boxer but he has made the beast of his limited tools.
Porter doesn't always bring the fight to his opponent. He didn't against Ugas and I felt that he lost that one. Porter has a hideous, unwatchable style, and I wouldn't care if I never saw him fight again.
I don’t think his skills are that bad he pretty much boxed his last two fights and I thought he looked good doing it I even thought he beat Garcia but don’t think he won his last fight
Porter can be horrible to watch but he has a great attitude, we need more like him. He has consistently faced top 5 fighters and has never been outclassed. I think after giving a good account of himself in the early rounds, Spence will take control and get a UD.
