Who was greater ...Lennox Lewis or Joe Calzaghe?

I am sure the words came from Floyd himself.

 

Floyd hit Ricky at will almost. He was having fun in there after a few rounds.

Castllo and Oscar I feel both deserved draws. And Cotto gave him technical hell.

 

Lennox is one of the best, if not the best, HW of all time.

 

Then he's lying isn't he? Because Ricky took about two rounds off him absolutely tops before getting beaten up and stopped.

Floyd was in way more trouble against plenty of opponents. Even old Shane Mosley had him in way more bother than Hatton did and managed to win about as many rounds.

 

Wow. Just wow.

 

Joe Louis and Larry Holmes are on another planet to Lennox, let's be real. A 50 year old Holmes was mocking Mercer, making him look a fool, for instance; see what hell Mercer gave LL, arguably beating him (I scored it for Mercer).

 

I had Lewis edging it and thought the judges got the right result. Hard to argue with Lewis resume being amongst the top 3 HWs ever with his wins:

A prime Lewis / Holmes is a proper 50/50.

I'd still fancy Lennox to get the job done.

Jones was a great fighter in his pomp but he was assisted by the Peds he took.

 

I agree as Calzaghe would always have been a nightmare for any fighter, with his speed, engine, fast combinations and granite chin, not to mention the ability to adjust his tactics during fights when required. If you didn't stop him he would be one hard man to out point.

 

No chance. Remember George Foreman saying if Lewis was American he would have been considered the best heavyweight ever and said he wouldnt have got in a ring with him if they were in the same era. Lewis was a terrific boxer with murderous power. He like many skilled boxers got better with age, were as the all action punchers like Tyson tend to peak much younger.
