Thursday night @ Fantasy Springs Casino, headlining a GBP card. Nice little slug-fest between middleweights struggling to keep themselves relevant. Quigley, an Irish mauler who achieved stardom in the amateurs but has run very hot-and-cold as prospect gone dud in the pros, is ranked WBC #5, IBF #14, and WBA #8. The heavy-handed Bahamian fringe contender is seven years his elder and turned professional four years later (after not quite as decorated a run but unlike Quigley, an Olympian), and has fought better opposition but gotten stopped in his biggest steps up in class (by Curtis Stevens in 2014, and then by Sergiy Derevyanchenko in an IBF eliminator in 2017) and is currently unrated.

Could be a good fight if Johnson is at his best or close to it, might be even able to upset Quigley... But hard to see that after the beating he received almost 2 years ago. Unless he looks really lethargic I've got Quigley by stoppage..

I'm not terribly impressed with Quigley if we're using a world level perspectvive, honestly. He's alright, but from what I've seen, rates as just another guy in a pretty deep middleweight division.

If Tureano can turn the clock back, he can win this. That's a big if, though. That Derevyanchenko fight was painful to watch.

This should catapult Quigley now that (hopefully) his injury problems are behind him

If the Tureano from the Casteneda fight shows up, Quigley beats him with ease, if the Quigley from the Hernandez match shows up, Tureano stops him. The question is, which versions show up of both men? Damned if I know.

I don't rate Quigley all that highly, if Johnson has anything left he will give Quigley hell.

Anyone else see parallels between Quigley and Csar Glazkov who was a regarded prospect and brief contender at HW? Both accomplished amateurs who's pro careers disappointed(so far for Quigley anyways) Both have issues despite great skillets and flashes of top ability with opponents at varying levels as well as a habit of sleepwalking through fights. Hope Quigley can turn it around and show more but I won't be holding my breath.

Quigley is featherfisted. I would be surprised if he's able to stop Tureano who is the biggest guy he has ever faced and Quigley already had big problems vs. small guys. I think Quigley decision most likely outcome. If Tureano shows his best he might be able to win, i just don't see it at this point in his career. Quigley is trash prospect though. Once he really steps up it gets battered badly.

I hope Johnson finally snags that big W. Hes had a though run and is likely going to retire in a few years.

Safe to say we are virtually unanimous in rooting for Taureano by KO?

...yet that and the draw are the results with zero backers. :eusa_dance: Seems everybody is either in for some disappointing confirmation or being titillatingly proven wrong.

I'm indifferent. Like both guys. Have a soft spot for Quigley for some reason like with Glazkov and it's hard to hate Johnson. Johnson upsetting the odds definitely makes for a better story though.

Someone backs Johnson. Quigley went from -590 to -360.

That’s a lot of money coming in.
