The video provides a good bit of insight, he's basically breaking down his thoughts/mindset during each stage of the Ruiz fight, aftermath and more - check it out.

Looks to me like he's putting the work in for the rematch, and seems pretty confident!

Thoughts?

 

If he applies himself and keeps growing as a fighter he can become a champion again.

 

Look at what Lennox did. You have a living example to ask about it and a fairly similar style. Lennox could teach him a ton.

 

Good for him. He's really taken the loss in great stride given the way fans piled on in the aftermath.

He clearly has his work cut out for him, given the flaws in his game and the rising level of talent at hw, but he has the right attitude to tackle those obstacles. Given his talent and work ethic it has kind of blown my mind how quickly fans have jumped ship.

 

It was the way in which Anthony lost, and who he lost to that caused some of his fans to abandon ship. He's in for a difficult time if the referee doesn't shelter him in the rematch.

 

Probably in the future, not now especially against Ruiz

the thing that people don't realize and overlook from the first fight, is that AJ landed his best shots on Ruiz... not just once in the 3rd round, but throughout the fight, AJ landed several heavy flush shots to the chin of Ruiz, and he took it like a champ. Not sure how AJ can stop him in the rematch... he might have to do the Usyk thing and just stay on the outside and box him, throw 100 punches a round.... but does he have the stamina to do that? I think not. but who knows.

 

AJ can beat Ruiz by decisions if he can't stop him. Don't worry about that. He can take a good care of him.

 

Who jumped ship? How do you know he lost fans?

AJ got a solid knock down. If you think he can't KO Ruiz, you are mistaken.

Wilder could not dent Stiverne in the first fight. **** happens.

 

He will become a two time quitter

 

I think he can adapt as well, but not in the way Lennox did, totally different.

For starters Lennox wasn't overly muscular, so his jab wasn't hampered. Manny Steward once spoke at a boxing lecture & pissed off a few like Steve Cunningham when Manny said boxers with huge muscles rarely throw a straight extended jab, they sort of loop it. Then when they get tired they start pushing arm punches.

2nd, He's sticking with he same team, what can be done differently? Especially if he gets hit with equilibrium shots as the shorter Ruiz' punches will probably land in similar fashion.

Last, AJ can drop him again, I'm sure, but issue is, Andy was hit clean, yet showed no signs of being hurt. If he was, he sure played it off.

 

I don’t like him , I think he’s a poor man’s wlad , but he’s not as bad as many now say he is. Imo he’s top 3 HW, maybe even #1. He is good , but def not great.
