I didn't realize the bookmakers favoured Beterbiev.

But if you look at their accomplishments as pros, Gvozdyk has clearly done more. Beterbiev has no scalp to rival Gvozdyk's win over Stevenson.

But that doesn't say who's the H2H favorite of course.
I favor Beterbiev too, even if Gvozdyk would be the paper favorite.

Yes, the H2H match-up is a different kettle of fish, and I am under no delusions here - there is a high chance of Beterbiev KO'ing Gvozdyk.

But one has got to credit Gvozdyk for taking this fight, business-wise it really doesn't seem like a worthwhile risk. He could have instead played around against B-level opposition, and then won a boring UD over an old Kovalev or something over 12 rounds. He also had the option to fight Gilberto Ramirez from what I hear, that's definitely a less risky fight ..

    So true.
I slightly favor him over current Kovalev too, and certainly over Ramirez.
Very risky indeed, and probably high risk, medium to low reward.

    My idea of the current H2H 175 ratings;
    1. Bivol
    2. Beterbiev
    3. Gvozdyk
    4. Kovalev

Actually I'd favour Gvozdyk strongly over current Kovalev, I think he's all wrong for Kovalev. But in my scenario he takes on a few B-level guys first and lets Kovalev get even older. They are friends and I can't see a old / ready-to-retire Kovalev taking big risks to try to KO Gvozdyk, which is probably his best shot at winning.

    My list is:

    1. Gvozdyk
    2. Beterbiev
    3. Bivol
    4. Kovalev

But to be honest, it's hard to know until they fight each other. I rate Bivol's skills highly, but suspect he's too small. He's a small 175 who could make 168 no problem while Gvozdyk is more or less a cruiserweight who can make 175 lb.

Beterviev just posted(in instagram) his last fight in amateurs, against Usyk, and it was important for him to write he was just 84kg in that 50-50 fight

Gvozdyk won his world title off a fighter who was a legit top 5 P4P hardest puncher in the game and now he's diving into a unification match up with another one after making only one defence of his title. Plenty of world champions navigate their way through their entire careers without ever facing one savage punching KO artist of that calibre, let alone two and some of these celebrated cats currently sitting high in the P4P rankings still haven't had their whiskers tested by a legit banger yet because they dine exclusively down at the Can't Punch My Way Through Cobwebs Canteen and the Cotton Bud Fists Cafe.

Kudos to Gvozdyk for taking this very dangerous fight. Word of advice to Gvozdyk, move on from Atlas.

Whomever wins this one will be a STAR.

While that may be true we still have to look at their ability and what they bring to the table head to head. I have no doubt that Beterbiev would have taken Stevenson out early.
Gvozdyk actually went down in my books from the Stevenson fight, I thought he was a better boxer than what he showed in that fight.
