Deontay Wilder vs Jimmy Young

This is actually an interesting match. Simply put can Wilder catch him clean? The thing is Young is a powder puff puncher and Wilder would not have to worry about Young putting him big trouble even if i do believe his durability to be potentially suspect at this time. With Wilder having quite a bit or free reign i think he'd catch Jimmy at some point and take him out. Not a foregone conclusion tho as Young was quite canny.

Jimmy would have humiliated Wilder...well, if Wilder had any sense he'd be humiliated.

 

Young would dominate so decisively (on a Wright-Trinidad level) that the judges would have to give him the decision.

 

I see Jimmy pinching a narrow decision here. I agree that Wilder's stamina is superior to Foreman's but Wilder would still be susceptible to Young's slickness.

 

Young outlasted many hard punchers and Wilder isn't better than them. Wilder is much less versatile with his attack than Foreman. Even though George wasn't at his best in that fight and had psychological issues, he was still more dangerous opponent than Wilder.

Not to mention that Fury proved that KD against Wilder is not the end of the fight. He becomes very sloppy when he hurts his opponent and Young was way too experienced to lose in that fashion.

Unless Wilder lands very clean right hand and KO Young with one shot (very, very unlikely as Young was durable as hell), Young would beat him clearly and Wilder would look very bad in that fight.

 

Wilder was even on the cards vs guys like Szpilka and probably behind vs Washington. He is an average boxer, despite his height and reach advantages.

Jimmy could very well out box him. The question is could Wilder catch him?

If I'm going to be honest here, fury was more clever and had a better chin than young.

Well, you might think so, but with a crooked judges, where there's a will there's a way.

 

This is utterly ridiculous, and I'm a Fury fan.

 

A possibility...anything to screw Jimmy Young out of a victory.

 

Unfortunately, it would have been a real possibility.
