I've very limited information with how few fights I've seen of Rivas. Seems like an orthodox version of Amir Mansour with quicker hands. Smallish guy. I think he has a good chance if he's up close against Whyte and can pressure him to trade having the quicker hands. Then again he looked very pedestrian against Jennings but Jennings is as "solid but not spectacular" as it gets. Everyone has rough fights with him. Not a fan of Whyte so I'm gonna shoot and say Rivas tko 8

If Rivas' eyes hold up, then he has a very good chance to beat Whyte.

I see a controversial decision in Whyte’s favour. Of course he does have that left hook.

How was this fight, btw? I haven't read through @CST80's RBR thread yet, and didn't even know the result until looking it up two minutes ago.

it was either 115-112 Whyte or 114-113 Whyte the Sky commentary made it seem like a shutout other than rivas scoring a 9th round knockout. lots of the posters were influenced and sky acted shocked when the cards were read which were

    115-112 x 2
    116-111

Rivas hurt whyte in round 12 and the ref promptly broke it up for which felt like for no reason at all.
Whye was able to land straight shots and hooks on the outside.
Rivas was a bit too wide on his hooks.

Rivas started off well, troubling Whyte with his aggression and speed. Whyte hurt him in the second with a short right and the fight turned into a bit of a wild shootout as Whyte tried to go for the KO and Rivas tried to take his head off in retaliation. Whyte settled down in the third and started establishing his jab, while tenderising Rivas's body with explosive lefts and rights and catching him with uppercuts when he tried to bull forward on the inside. Rivas's output and effectiveness slowed considerably as Whyte continued to keep him at bay with his jab and pile up the points with well timed power shots. Rivas looked dangerous in spots but also looked to be gradually breaking down under the pressure, and seemed to be hurt in the eighth with an uppercuts and some follow up shots. Miraculously he stormed forward at the start of the ninth and knocked Whyte down with a heavy uppercut. Whyte looked on very unsteady legs, and did very well to survive the round. Whyte settled down again in the tenth and eleventh, although Rivas seemed a bit more invigorated by the success he'd had earlier. In the twelfth, Rivas hurt Whyte again, but a combination of some ref intervention and Whyte's own recovery skills helped Whyte see out the round... just.

Whyte the deserved winner on points, in a fight in which both fighters gained credit.

1st and 2nd round were good, and the 8th with the knockdown, and the blatant corruption in the 12th are the only ones worth watching. The rest of it was meh.
