First question Ali was asked in a live interview a week after his bout with Foreman:

    Anything surprise you about George?

    Ali: He was FAST!

Prime Foreman was deceptively quick and his jab was considered to be “the best since Joe Louis”. Foreman also had a chin of iron an ATG will to win.

Wilder would not see the finish if two rounds with Prime Foreman. Not a chance.

Wilder was faster than Foreman, and Foreman didn't have good enough defense to avoid Wilder's right hand.

The first thing Ali says about Foreman is, "he has no power, he don't hit hard" Ali mentions Foreman's lack of stamina saying he gave Foreman two rounds of "steady punching, then after that he was mine, he was falling, he was missing..." , and then he mentions that Foreman punches "like a sissy." This is right after the fight, Ali saying what he really thought about Foreman as a boxer, not trying to be nice.

I also forgot to mention that he's taller and has better stamina

Wilder looked like dog **** against Fury. Trying to land the outside bomb all night and following it up with a sloppy hook .. where's the skillset with this guy … Funny to post a clip of the greatest HW of all time to try and discredit Foreman … Hell it only took a Tyson Fury to discredit Wilder

The only liar is you. Plus you’re an inept student of the game.

The interview was on Wide World of Sports the week after the bout took place. Ali was asked by Howard Cosell if anything surprised you about Foreman.

    Ali’s response:
    “He was fast”

Foreman in his prime his jab was called the best since Joe Louis.

He was also the most destructive puncher in boxing history.

Wilder has done little to prove he ranks with any ATG historically. Certainly not George Foreman. Wilder is a rank amateur, a child, in comparison.

You’re confused again. Pat posted the fight video with the post-fight interview above. Right after the fight, Ali clearly has very little regard for Foreman and his boxing abilities. So the clip you’re describing most certainly was NOT the “first thing” Ali said about Foreman after they fought. You should apologize for calling him a liar.

I wish the mods would make polls public by default.

Too good a ring cutter. George smashes Wilder IMO.

Lol Foreman was dead tired and that is why he was knocked down. If you want to use that logic Wilder was knocked down b y17-20 Harold Sconiers. Foreman took tons of punches from Tommy Morrison a harder puncher and much faster puncher and walked through them unphased.

Why do you keep calling George a 215 pounder?

He turned pro at 219, beat Frazier at 217.5, destroyed Norton at 224.5 and lost to Ali at 220. For the rest of his first career he hovered around the 224-230 mark. He might have come in at 215 once or twice early in his career but he was a legit 220 pounder by and large.

Foreman was a naturally more solid man than spaghetti legs Wilder who turned pro at 207 despite being 6'7 and has had access to "supplements" to fill out his naturally lean physique. George was plenty big and strong enough to compete with Wilder anyway.
