He’s obviously declined since he fought both . And both those Wins were very close wins. Does this version of Thurman beat those guys? My guess is he loses SD type of a fight
He'll always beat Garcia (styles), but Porter could get closer next time. He won't fight either though, doesn't need to.
Yes he does, same result, 1 solid 12 round fight is enough to remove ring rust, people making too much of his lay off, lots fighters have come back with good performances after long layoffs including the injured ones.
Thread was about Thurman rematches bud. But I agree with both your points re. Pacquiao, although I'd temper the Porter point by saying he stands a better than average chance of being badly hurt by Pacquiao at some point during the fight, he charges in quite open at times.
I was thinking this. After his layoff he had a full training camp, then a tough twelve round fight against a guy who is hardly a scrub, then a perfect amount of rest before doing another full training camp. How much boxing does someone have to do to remove ring rust? I can understand the ring rust excuses for his performance in the Lopez fight, but not this one.
exactly this, been off for ages and in all honesty could of and should of had another tune up before fighting Manny. If he continues he'll look fine.
Pacquiao was just too fast, too quick, too sneaky with his punches for Thurman. Thurman is still very much in his prime. He'd still beat and stand a chance against the same boxers before he lost to Pac. If anything, Keith looks much sharper and his body looks more solid last night compared to how he was vs Lopez.
I think he always beats both but I think he underestimated Pac and fought the wrong game plan. Also I think he fought Pac to soon coming off a lay-off his timing was wayyyyyyy off.
Can't blame him. I don't think he will care too much because you don't want to miss that opportunity. I hope he comes back. As a big Manny fan, I didn't pay any attention to Thurman's **** talk. I knew it was all just promotion. He doesn't come across as malicious. I think Thurman is pretty good, just that his power was a bit overrated. I thought he stood in front of Pac a bit too much. He was taking combinations and just putting his hands up. I think he should have looked to either punch between Pac's combos more or simply move more. I've seen him move more. Maybe it was just Manny that didn't let him. I think he can be a good potshotter from what I've seen in his fights before. He could have troubled Pac more just potshotting. But the fight was very entertaining because he didn't.
I actually thought Garcia beat Thurman and Thurman-Porter was razor close I'd pick both to beat him today.
So are you saying that the Thurman that we saw against Pac was not the same fighter that we saw 2 years earlier? Was he not the Thurman that was supposed to beat Pac, the same one that Pac had no chance against?
