Whyte himself said it was less of a Knockdown and more of crossing his legs... why would Whyte lie????? He has admitted in the past when he got tagged or hurt.... so why would he say LIE? It would work in his favour to say YES it was a KD I was HURT so Wilder and Fury would be MORE willing to take the fight on that vunlerability. I believe Whyte on this one.
They whilst far from perfect were imo honest Not once last night did i hear 100 per cent biased crap Thier opinions were sometimes nonsense but it was thier opinions not a sky sports script
He went down from a punch Its a knockdown Done well to get back in to the fight so swiftly Rivas was too muscular to have enough in the tank to carry on at such pace Whyte settled after a Rivas first round and once Rivas felt Whytes power clalmed down He soon respected what was on the other side of the ring Body shots from Whyte are an absolute tool i must say
I thought Whyte won clearly. There were large periods in the fight Rivas done nothing. The scorecards were fair and better than what we usually get in Britain. Whyte fought to the best of his ability and racked up another solid win. He's certainly deserved of a title shot but he hasn't a hope of winning because his frailties were there for all to see - sloppy, tired, chinny. The knockdown was completely legitimate and Whyte looked hurt. Wilder would take Whyte's head off and ping it into row Z if they ever meet. I can't believe people are giving Whyte a chance. The refereeing in the last round was ridiculous. Victor knew exactly what he was doing in blatantly stopping Rivas' momentum and I for one am sick of Brit referees and judges. It's no wonder guys like Wilder and Ruiz don't want to come anywhere near the country. I don't believe Rivas would've stopped Whyte in the last round, but Rivas was robbed of the chance and the fans were robbed of a great final round.
rivas let me down, i had a bet on 7-9 and 10-12 ko with high odds small stake. ******* couldnt knock skin of soup!
They were just as biased, in fact, probably worse. Adam Smith is more neutral than John Rawling, the DAZN guys, and especially the ESPN guys.
Cant agree Bud You would never have heard sky saying Dillian ducked the AJ rematch for a start Anyway its pretty much a one off watch Was just nice not to hear Froch and Smith talk shite
Whyte won for sure but it was very competitive. He used his jab really well, which Rivas struggled to get around. He's a good second tier Heavyweight; going life and death with Rivas and Chisora only cements that but all the same I'll look forward to him fighting Wilder\Fury winner. I don't give him a much hope in either. Rivas was weary of the left hook counter from Whyte, which Whyte was wise to stop throwing so much as a result. No need to waste punches. Rivas worked the body pretty well which Whyte's high guard allowed him to do. Insane to hear people suggest it wasn't a knockdown but the culprits are less surprising. I thought the ref in the 12th round was poor, he seemed overly interested in stopping Rivas from working on the inside for no particular reason. Overall, mostly solid performance from Whyte and he picks up a decent win.
Whyte clearly won the fight for me. He controlled the fight with the jab and did some terrific body work.
That’s a few of us that have mentioned the refs work in the 12th. Rivas went to town twice on Whyte and both times he pulled them apart and took some time to allow them to fight again. I’m not saying he would have got him, but at least allow them to work and let’s see a great final round. I had it 116-112 to Whyte. Great jab, shot variety. Dealt with the smaller, lighter fighter really well. He does ship too many shots and the knockdown had him buzzed so disappointing that it was played down by the commentary. I wonder how Whyte vs Joshua would pan out now, 4 years later.
Same score as me. I think AJ still beats him, assuming his head ins't messed up from the loss. I think he'd deal with the guys Whyte has been dealing with better than Whyte has. But we'll see. If AJ loses the Ruiz rematch and Whyte loses his title fight, I suspect we'll see it.
