Tom Little, another Heavyweight who is being put in way over his head: Hrgovic (in his 3rd pro fight), Dubois (in his 8th pro fight), Price, and Lucas Browne next in a fight this weekend. To be fair, if Dave Allen is to continue and be moved properly and slowly by Eddie, a fight with Tom Little would be an ideal starting point for him.
I took Eddies comment about Dave Allen 'not looking himself' in the post card IFL interview as a signal he isn't giving up on him.
Sells tickets and shows to his numb army of twitter followers. Eddie will milk that cow dry. Like any good promoter would. 3/4 more rebuild fights, stories coming out how "his body couldn't adjust to training full time for the first time ever" and then another fight against someone with half decent skills and another pasting.
Allen is better than a journeyman, just not as much as some of us thought/hoped. He consistentlly beats journeyman...Gavern, Dallas, Howe etc He's obviously a long way from world level, and him stating all week the Povetkin fight was signed now looks ridiculous. He's basic, comes forward in straight lines and doesn't through enough. However he still beats anyone at Area/English level and has a chance at British level. Saying he's a journeyman is disrespectful.
Aside from obvious weaknesses in technical ability, Allen is a small heavyweight. Getting thumped in the mush is never fun, but when you're giving away several inches in height and reach even less so no doubt... Those weigh in shots with Price were striking. Maybe matching him with the smaller guys would at least give him a fighting chance.
Just because a journeyman beat a journeyman doesn't mean he isn't a journeyman, he's just a slightly better journeyman. All journeymen aren't on exactly the same level.
He tapped them up about a job previously, think he said they told him he needed to win a British or Commonwealth title first to be credible.
Pretty much -- wash, rinse, repeat. I fully expect Allen to get fed to Parker at some point, as a means to keep Parker busy.
I seriously don't get the love in for Allen in fact I purposely avoid any interviews or fights he's in. He gets more attention than most of our world champions and it pashes me off.
