If Teo gets by Commey, he'll have earned the right, but it won't be pretty for him if that happens. I'm not sold he gets by Commey, but it doesn't hurt that Commey will need a KO to win. His team is foolish if they prepare him thinking he can win on the cards.
Loma didn't look too good against Pedraza who had height and reach on him. A ton of excuses were made for Loma. Lopez's last opponent was young, much taller, and much rangier than Pedraza and actually had a good jab, and solid right hand. That kid would beat Pedraza. Hell yeah he gave Lopez serious issues. Lomachenko isn't six feet tall though, and he has shorter arms. I favor Loma over Lopez, but nobody in here can say that Lopez wouldn't be Lomachenko's toughest opponent to date.
Loma is another hype job that clueless fans here act like can't lose. Lets say if Lopez or Commey fight Lomachenko and knock him out easy they will pretend they knew Loma was overrated and they knew he would lose to Commey or Lopez. That is how clueless pretend boxing fans act.
Loma has talent and skill, but is a tad over-hyped, in my opinion due to mediocre opposition. He beat Russell Jr in his ninth post Amateur bout. That is a fantastic win nine fights into your pro career, and you would be hard pressed to find anyone with a Russell Jr. caliber win 9 fights into their career. However he really hasn't fought anyone since. That is the only top level name. Walters, hadn't done a damn thing at 130 outside of have a tough fight with Sosa. Sosa's claim to fame was having a tough fight with Walters. Loma tooled both of them. Marriaga, and Rigondeaux were both smaller men, beating them was for the money and didn't do a damn thing resumewise. He fought Tank's son, and had a tough fight. Crolla, Linares' leftovers, is just not good at this point of his career. Linares had a fairly soft resume, and got arse raped in one round his next fight after Lomachenko. Now Loma is lined up to face another Linares victim. He left featherweight when there were guys to fight. He left 130 when there were guys to fight. Although having fought bums and smaller men, he now puts stipulations on strong, undefeated, young bucks getting a title shot. That looks odd, under the circumstances of him having faced bums and smaller men with no problem.
Lopez OBVIOUSLY didn't take the Japanese dude too seriously and it almost backfired on him. That said, I still think Lopez will give Loma all he can handle. And the Japanese kid turned out to be an insanely tough cookie. Lopez won't look nearly as bad against Commey. We shall find out soon enough.
you don't ever ever ever call a boxer who has won 2 olympic gold medals a hype job. the guys been boxing since he was 5. he has dedicated his whole life to boxing.
