Do fans think Frazier benefitted from being a few pounds lighter than Ali in their first bout? If they had weighed exactly the same in that bout would the result have been different?
I don't know. Ali has said the Joe Frazier punches very hard. I am not sure a few pounds would matter. Joe was very determined that night after being verbally abused by Ali.
I give you credit though; yr McQueen pic when you post as Mark is a lot better than that hipster doufus psycho looking photo you try to pull off as Saad54. Did you get that pic from the house of freaks? Looks like it was run over by a road grater and put back together.
No. A fighter needs to be at the best weight for them. Whatever that weight may be. Quickness is the most important thing in sports. You can use it to keep your opponent off balance. Frazier's hook was very quick like a whip in his prime.
Frazier benefited from the fact that Ali had just 18rds of boxing under his belt in the previous 4 years.Once the ring rust was gone and the legs, reflexes, and stamina returned it was a different story.
This is the truth of the matter . It' was the lay off that counted against Ali , nothing to do with weight . Even an Active Muhammad would have probably lost to a rampaging Frazier that night but the years out counted against him .
I did read once that Ali tucked to the right in the first fight and Frazier of course to the left. I wonder what effect that had on proceedings as well.
