Duran had good speed himself at Welterweight. He used quickness and finesse to feint Palomino and Leonard into knots. He won 10 out of 10 against Carlos who was had been a good recent champion. Manny would always fight well and give a good account of himself but this is a rough nite for him.
Duran comfortably for me. Pacs speed will not worry Duran as much as some might think imo as it is mostly offensive more than elusive.
Doubtful, Pac's victory over Thurman is more of and indication of how bad Thurman is as opposed to how good or how much Pac has left in the tank.
Nobody said Thurman was bad before the fight and he is still a top 4 welterweight having lost just 1 fight,to an ATG.
Duran would ko Manny, Manny rushes in constantly, Duran would nail him. Duran at 147 is bigger ,hits MUCH harder , and just as fast. Watch the brawl in Montreal, Leonard had trouble with Duran's quickness and Manny can't fight backing up.
I was never impressed with Thurman well before the Pac fight and said so in many post. He simply didn't pass the eye test. I said the same about Joshua well before his lost to Ruiz Jr. Pointed out the many bad signs he showed when he was undefeated. Their are MANY indicators how skilled a boxer is, even when he's fighting 2nd and 3rd rate fighters. If you watch actually no study the sport for a number of yrs its easy to see. How quickly a counter comes, if the fighter jumping out the way as opposed to slipping, if the fighter getting leverage,or angles, what punches are being used effectively, and more important WHEN that fighter is using the punches. Is the fighter using certain in-fighting techniques/wrestling moves. All the information is their if you know how to read it. And I've been reading it for over 40 yrs,as well as being involved in it.
You know, I agree. In Thurmans previous fight he looked just a little above average and his shall I say desire to fight looked lacking. I thought Thurman would win because Manny's 40 but Thurman didn't push him to use his old legs. He seemed wary of engaging Manny in exchanges, everytime he landed something solid he never tried to seriously follow it up. I thought he nailed him in the 11th and Thurman just walked around.
I've been reading it for over 50, practised it ,wrote about it and have about 200 books and about 60 dvds on it. All of which means jack ****! seems we have a couple more Houdini's here DubbleChin and you! Lucky us!
What papers or books have you written? I'd be interested in reading it. And what does Houdini mean? And your comparison of myself and Double Chin reveals your hubris . Because nothing I wrote should've been taken out of context to that extent but obviously you did. You sound awfully angry over a different point of view.
