For me funnier thing is that some here really believe that Wilder would land first thrown right hand and kill Langford with it. Pure fantasy...

I'm not sure. We need see Wilder vs a top ten opponent in his prime. That has only happened once!

Langford pressed the action, had a good chin, and better skills. He certainly hit hard enough.

Wilder outside the Ortiz fight, which he barely won has not had his chin tested.

Langford was 170-200 pounds hardly under the middle weight limit.

That would be a good fight? What about putting Hagler into the SHW devision too?

This board lost its brain for another bull**** thread of the highest level of idiocy.

Thats what Langford would look fighting in the today Cruiserweight devision! Forget about HW today!

That would be a great fight when Langford fought under MW limit (early 1900s), not when he was in his HW prime.

As far as I know, we don't have SHW divison.

Comparing Langford (who beat many very good fighters of today HW size) to this nobody is ridiculous, Langford is one of the greatest fighters ever.

This guy just compared a complete amateur fighter who lost basically every fight he took part in to Sam freaking Langford. But hey! - he's at least modern and has similar height, so he must be better than Langford ;)

Langford was obviously much smaller in height and reach .. Wilder is possibly the worst ultra dangerous champion puncher I have ever seem. He does pretty much does everything wrong and is the classic one trick pony but what a trick .. Langford was dominated at heavyweight by big fighters like Wills and Fulton with jabs but Wilder hardly knows how to throw a jab .. I recently rewatched the Qwai - Foreman fight and saw Qwai, who was the same size as Langford but with a much shorter reach, hit Foreman constantly with right hands despite the huge size difference .. It certainly makes me think that Langford would have a terrific shot of taking Wilder out .. it would be some interesting match up .

This is for imagination of weightclass discrepancy. Oh and put Langford into the HW-devision of the 90s, you´ll find him having tons of losses too, until he would go down in weightclass.

How would he close the range when giving up a foot in height? He would just walk into a right hand.

Langford's reach is only 2 inches shorter than Szpilka's and 4 inches shorter than Ortiz's

LOL comparing Willie Driver to Langford. Langford would beat Driver and everyone he ever fought (mostly by KO). I love the people just envisioning Langford walking straight in and eating punches. Have any of you guys ever seen any of Langfords fights? His head movement. He kept his head on a swivel, using it to draw leads which he would slip and counter while he was on his way in. He was a lot like Tyson in that regard, an aggressive counter puncher. Its why I can see him potentially beating the wild swinging Wilder. If Wilder swung with one of those wild punches of his and Langford slips it (as he often did) there is no mystery how he would get inside, he would suddenly be inside thanks to Wilder and anyone wanna guess who is going to have the advantage inside? Langford was able to generate incredible power and leverage on the inside and out with those long arms and broad shoulders and the lanky Wilder has never had to deal with someone like Langford. Its not a stretch at all. I think some here just arent that familiar with Langford's style. Im not a guy who thinks Langford was unbeatable or knocked out everyone he ever fought. I personally think hes a bit overrated today. BUT his style and god given gifts and yes even his size would potentially pose problems for Wilder I think. If Wilder were a boxer Id be a lot more reticent to give Langford a shot. But a wild slugger like Wilder who loads up on his punches and swings for the fences would give Langford a lot more opportunity to close the distance and counter with his own big shots.

No downs in 40+ fights against men 220+. Langford has EIGHT Ko losses!

The intellectual dishonesty is at an all time high!

He's been down twice and neither was any where remotely the caliber of puncher Langford is, and he was badly wobbled by Splika, Molina and Ortiz
