When your adrenaline is going, it suppresses inflammation. An unfortunate side effect of that is that a TBI can masked until the athlete starts to cool off and the inflammation kicks in.

Sometimes this sport sucks, and today is one of those times. Praying for the family; rest in peace Maxim.

    R.I.P

Who knows if this would happen if the fight was 10 rounds, he took a lot of beating in the 11th round especially.

he wasnt bleeding, the swelling in his brain was restricting blood flow, which i would think would raise the pressure in the ballon that is your circulatory system. but again, im no medical pro.

Extremely sad news. I love the artistry but hate the brutality of the sport.

all fighters are dehydrated after 10 rds, they dont all keel over and then die a few days later.

It was listed as technically being an "eliminator"...but for the IBF #2 position, so not a true final world eliminator. Pitting dangerous young unbeaten prospects like these against each other should be the domain of ShoBox main events...generally scheduled for ten. Having thirteen pro bouts (and in ten of those having not seen round 7/8/9/10...and past 8 just twice) isn't ample prep to be going 12 with a huge puncher, even one that is a fellow relative novice.

I've always been against fights that aren't world title fights or direct eliminators (as in, to become the mandatory) being scheduled for 12.

just looked it up, you are correct, it would be high blood pressure that would signal an injury. but not because of dehydration. i stand corrected.
