Styles make fights, and a short stocky fighter who comes straight ahead winging hooks ain't going to beat George Foreman. He'll run into Georges sledge hammer jab , when Mike does get inside George would grab, maul and shove the smaller man back. Sometime around the 2 minute mark of round 1 Tyson would realize he can't come forward and when he stops moving forward Tyson is all target. Mike's courage would wane as he comes out for round 2 and he would attempt wild hooks in desperation and George would wobble him. Tyson gets up and Foreman blasts him down again and the ref stops it at 2:44 of the second round.

If you drew up a fighter tailor made George ,Tyson has the attributes

Someone mentioned earlier how Cus told Mike George wasn't his ideal opponent, that sounds about right to me. And I remain quite aware of how amazing ferocious Mike could be in the 80s. George has a meaner streak to him than the 90s propaganda would have one believe. Those uppercuts Frazier and Norton received haunt me. Remember the uppercut Mike got hit with by Lewis? Even more powerful.

Witherspoon made a good run at the title with two wins over Al Cole and that Gonzalez fella who Bowe beat. If I remember rightly Tim was more impressive against the same opponent as Bowe had been. His fight with Mercer was an excellent match, Witherspoon was robbed. Then he became a respected opponent lasting the distance with Golota, Donald and Thunder. Nobody had stopped him. Tim later beat Bostice and took monte Barrett to a SD. It trumps anything Pierre Coetzer or Aldison Rodriguez beat.

In all seriousness, all that is missing from Brian Nielsen’s record is a win over Michael Moorer. He’s the same level as comeback George.

Until he fought Lewis, I don’t think there was ever more than one other guy who could beat Tyson at any one time.

For a champion, Mike was always a weird unstable kind of guy, he beat himself most of the time he lost. When he was on he was on though.

Im not wasting anymore of my time with this side show, its not even the original topic.

I repeat, make a poll and make your case if you're so confident. Of course i know you wont since youre a coward and hate being laughed at even though you go out of your way to make ridiculous claims.

Agree with the first disagree with the 2nd.

George himself explains in the post fight interview after Cooney "you have to get a big puncher out of there as soon as possible".

Mid range mike would have to deal with the telephone pole jab and cross arm block, it wouldnt be a comfort zone at all.

(smiling and sighing in appreciation of George's arm block. That man really knew a lot of great tricks! lol)

I also can't get the picture of Joe landing that last, really good hook on George and then shortly after getting bounced off the canvas and basically ending Joe's career. Does anyone believe Mike had the heart of a Frazier?

Prime Tyson could slip the jab. This isn't Rocky Sekorski in there with George.

I feel like if George tried to take Tyson on during Mike's first reign, he loses. Maybe if Mike came in out of sorts like he did for Buster Douglas, George has a shot.

How can we put an end to a debate where the only people who really know the truth aren't speaking in this thread, and even if they did, who knows if they'd tell the whole truth? Yet people even more removed from their inner thinking are going to solve it once and for all?

Yes I was actually thinking of Dokes getting a shot at Bowe a couple years later.

Was Moorer favored to beat him?
