Im going to start slowly and try to rank them. Obviously we will almost all wind up disagreeing on the exact order, but I just want a rough idea. I'll slowly add and tweak it as I go. 1. Foreman KO Moorer 2. Hopkins UD Pavlik 3. Pac SD Thurman 4. Hopkins UD Pascal 5. Vitali UD Chisora Just as a start. I'll add and tweak it as I go.
Holmes' win over Mercer was MUCH better than Vitali's win over Chisora. Mercer >>>>>> Chisora. No way prime Lennox Lewis would have ever went life and death with any version of Derek Chisora.
Holmes also wasn't in his prime when he completely outclassed unbeaten 30-yeras-old WBO champion and Olympic Gold medalist Ray Mercer.
I saw the Duran Castro fight, I think Duran was about 47!! he beat Castro who went on to win the light heavyweight title,,,that is astonishing.
Adding Hopkins UD of Tarver. Given Tarver being larger, better skilled and with arguably a better resume than Pavlik... and gighting at tge weight hes comfortable at, I am going to rate that win above the Paclik win. Hopkins beat Tarver at 41 years old. Im putting Hopkins UDing Tarver at #2 as of right now. 1. Foreman KO Moorer 2. Hopkins UD Tarver 3. Pac SD Thurman 4. Hopkins UD Pavlik 5. Hopkins UD Pascal 6. Vitali UD Chisora Also, Im switching Hopkins/Pavlik and Pac/Thurman. Thurman was closer to his best form than Pavlik was, and was fighting at his best weight (Pavlik moved up) Just as a start. I'll add and tweak it as I go.
Moore over durelle. Hopkins over Pascal pavlik tarver PAC over Thurman Foreman over moorer Duran over castro If you want to count dodgy decisions then Hopkins over Taylor and calzaghe Foreman over Briggs Duran over camacho If you want to factor in age Hopkins over shumenov and cloud Those guys weren't special but Hopkins was 48-49
The problem with Hopkins/Tarver being that high is that Tarver was 38 years old. He was the #1 contender having just beaten Roy Jones Jr. and Glen Johnson, but he was still past prime. Pavlik on the other hand was just 26 and undefeated.
