You said Duran would ko him.I pointed out he ko'd nobody at welterweight worth mentioning.
Cotto ,Bradley, Marquez are as good ,or better than Palomino.

In fairness, are there any current boxers who do pass your eye test?

Very interesting clash of styles! This would be an exciting fight.

Thurman was inactive for two years due to his shoulder injury and other issues, and didn’t look good in his comeback fight with Josesito. I don’t think many people held him in as high regard as they did a few years ago, when it seemed like he had the potential to rise to the top of the pack at 147.

He was in the top 3 of the deepest division out there and the undefeated favourite to win the fight.

Cotto tired badly after starting well v Manny no way could he have gone 15 brutal rounds v Duran the way Ray did.

Who would win at 174 between these two?

He was still a better welterweight than Palomino.

Top 3 before the injuries, surgery, and layoff. But there was an open question about how far he'd fallen off during his absence from the ring, and the guy who fought Josesito Lopez didn't look Top 3 to me. Just my opinion.

And btw, I'm not sure that 147 is deeper than middleweight, light-heavyweight, or even heavyweight any more...

You mean he beat Hatton after Mayweather did it first. Beat Cotto after Margarito beat him and beat Margarito after Shane Mosley beat him? Yeah that clearly makes Pac a beast at 147 right?

Duran is better p4p. And is the better overall fighter. But styles make fights. I just don't think anybody in boxing history who is a natural Lightweight or smaller can stand toe to toe and trade with Pacquiao straight up. Even Morales (a notoriously rugged brawler) was badly hurt in the 1st round against Manny and then boxed and moved for the entire fight.

If Duran stands toe to toe with Manny and decides to go into a straight up brawl then I don't see him winning. Nobody can brawl with Pac. Not even Duran. Who the hell can brawl with Pacquiao in his prime? I just don't see anybody doing it.

If Duran is disciplined and fights a smart fight he can outbox Pacquiao. But he has an ego.

Nobody can brawl with Manny in his prime. You have to outbox him. If you brawl with Pac, you lose.

    Utter nonsense !

Cotto was a beast when Pac demolished him.

I'm a big Duran fan and have him in my top 5 p4p all-time.

And I would pick the Montreal Duran to beat the best welter version of Pac.

But nobody, including SRR, is going to "beat the hell" out of 2009-11 Pac.

Yes skill wise Lomo, Charlo brothers , Alvarez , Crawford and G.Davis But as recently revealed by the Charlo brothers as the competition has improved they have looked less impressive. And the competition they faced that made them look unimpressive wasn't impressive themselves. So yes, fighters like Lomo, Crawford, and Davis seemed to possess the skill level to be something special, but not one has had a signature win, or a tough grind it out come from behind victory against exceptional competition. Their have been 100's probably 1,000's of exceptionally gifted boxers that seemed to possess all the ingredients to be a ATG over the past century ,But those fighters were usually exposed earlier prior to 20-30 yrs ago. Now fighters can go on forever due great management, and very weak competition and look like something that the eye test would show me they clearly are not.
