And Ortiz demolished Thompson, like he was supposed to. Unlike Price, Solis, Takam, Scott and Pulev. Prior to that he demolished Jennings who just gave Wlad a surprisingly good fight. The same Jennings who was on a solid win streak. He had fought his way to a legitimate contender spot. Ortiz also quite handily just beat Hammer. The same Hammer whom lesser fighters loose to: Price, SafetyPin, Wallisch, Teper...
Because Wlad was in his late 30s. Jennings is below average. Prime Wlad would KO him easily in 3 like Leapai.
Wlad previously mopped to canvas with Pulev. So Pulev is is even less? And what does that make Szpilka, Perez and Fedosov? And hardly any Wlad fight ended in 3 or less, including Leapai. You are clearly biased here.
Wlad was visibly deteriorating every fight, because of age. Or you think laws of nature don't apply to him?
This **** has derailed so ****ing hard now. This isn't about Wlad. This isn't about Jennings. This is about Ortiz's "boogeyman" status. Fact is that Jennings and Thompson had given good accounts of themselves. And when Ortiz destroyed them, the hype train took off. But it soon lost it's steam with Allen and Scott. Now the only ones calling Ortiz a monster or anything like that, are the very same people who are scrutinizing him. No one is hyping Ortiz as a monster.
yeh but how is that being nearly koed? The test is done for medical reasons not for checking if you been koed.
And he went on to do nothing since. A win over Hammer is the best he's achieved in something like four years, and he laboured to an unconvincing points win that had the clueless Yank commentators talking about how tough Hammer was because Ortiz couldn't put him away. His star might have been on the ascent once upon a time, but that time has long passed.
And thats my point exactly. No one is hyping him. But every now and again we get these very same stupid threads. He had some good momentum years ago and now his detractors are clinging on to it. "I thought he was a monster, but who has he beat?" Beat a few solid guys, got hype, looked mediocre, lost the hype. **** happens.
Yeah, alright. You ran out of terms to classify them, eh? Who the hell else was there back in 2015? By your logic, Ortiz was at least average, since he destroyed below average Jennings.
Ortiz would have been a fine title defence in 2015. Never have said otherwise. He was a poor defence in 2017 however
