Drug cheating is foul & in boxing it should be a MANDATORY jail sentence. Fines will always be paid & swept under the rug. Jail time is needed. We're not meant to punched in the head as it is. Professional Assassin's on roids, it has to stop at some point. I read yesterday a guy spending 50+ years in jail for Marijuana.
The only problem with this is where do you draw the line, since every fighter or for that matter professional athlete takes something. Almost all top pro boxers receive hand injections and take other substances for pain management, which do help performance. Also, most likely Whyte took something to get his weight down, since I heard he was over 280 lbs going into the fight with Rivas. A lot of the top heavyweights gain too much weight in between fights and have trouble getting their weight down in time. Freddie Roach mentioned that more ring activity throughout the year could do wonders for heavyweights, since he admitted that he understood how difficult it is for fighters to stay in good condition without an upcoming fight to be in condition for and why guys balloon up when their fights are often 5 to 6 months apart.
I'd back this being introduced if only to sit back and count the number of sudden retirements by athletes with chronic 'sporting injuries'....
I would also petition running and hugging to be criminalised. Boring people to sleep for a fight that they paid for should be a crime.
While they are at it, they should you know, stop with their corruption and go public with their adverse findings and not you know keep it secret.

Due to the nature of corruption in boxing and lack of an overarching governing body, criminalising drug cheats will in practice mean only a minority face criminal punishments. The cash cows and the well connected will simply use the legal system to avoid such punishments. It will actually make it unfairer than it is today. The law of unintended consequences will be evident.
