This is the right approach. HGH for instance should be an immediate life-time ban if authorities really want to make a difference. Anything that is injected into the body like testosterone cannot be unintentional and so should be an immediate lifetime ban.

Substances that can be consumed via contamination or in pill form is a grey area because technically that can be accidental. Depends on the circumstances and levels in the blood. You can't just blanket lifetime ban people for that sort of violation.

First offense - 3 year ban

    Second offense- life ban

    Third offense - jail

Here's the thing, there's regular jobs where you get drug tested, and if you fail once, you're fired. It's that simple.

That should happen in boxing. I couldn't care less if it's an 'accident'. Lifetime ban, and then join the rest of us in the real world and get a normal job.

Is embarrasing the amount of slack cheats get given, when the average man on the street living paycheck to paycheck would get none of the sort.

Exactly in other walks of life you wouldnt be given a second chance, why should we allow it in an area where it is arguably more serious ?

Everyone can make a stupid mistake when they are young, and boxers generally aren't the brightest bunch. First time a year or two depending on the severity, second time a life ban. I would not rule out criminal prosecutions either.

    Exactly.

The only reason people are so reticent to do what the only sensible thing to do when people are punching each other in the face for a living, which is a life ban, is because they want to see them box again. 2nd chance? For a job? Sorry, you f***** it, join the real world and get a job like 99.9% of the world.

A pilot wouldn't get this ridiculous debate, nor would a train driver, nor anyone with any job with someones life potentially at stake. How the **** does some millionaire get a break because he no longer gets to 'follow his dream'? It's pathetic. The power of celebrity is embarrassing.

I do get your point but like has been said there are lifetime benefits from certain peds. So a fighter can still be gaining from a cycle he did 5/6/8 years ago which is still therefore gaining an unfair advantage. I certainly believe with some peds it has to be a lifetime ban

I think ban for life. It will make people think twice and would definitely help the sport.
