Guys the reality is Thurman is simply not good

I disagree. Spence blew past Brook, Garcia, Peterson, and Van Heerdan like they didn’t belong. Thurman scraped by Porter (said guy who lost to Brook) and Garcia (same guy who arguably lost to Peterson).

More importantly, Thurman wasn’t the same guy who won those fights. He lost his timing from sitting around for two years.

 

Not sure about that one, Spence is just as strong at the weight so I don’t think porter will be able to rough him up easily. I think Spence will break him down and win comfortably.

 

Only one of the names you listed for Spence had a Ring rating at 147 at the time (Brook), and he was coming off a loss.

I don’t think Thurman scraped by. He beat those guys clearly. Competitive fights, but clear wins.

Dude, these types of threads show just how fickle the OP is. Gdamn, man give Thurman his due. He is that good. He's the only guy who fought Pac toe to toe. Even at 40 most guys run from Pac. Not Thurman.

 

It’s Floyd Mayweather Syndrome. Spence makes guys look bad who have either already beaten Thurman’s opposition or would be very competitive and gets downplayed for looking too good.

 

His wife was in the locker room two hrs before the fight ffs. Tells you everything you need to know about Thurman. He's a clown. Fights for money, not for legacy. At least right now. Maybe it was different few years ago. He probably knows he's shot after injuries and surgeries.

I always thought he is decent at best. Like a poor man’a David haye, he is an ambush fighter who fights in spurts and runs for defense. Thurman is boring.

Im not trying to discredit Pacman in any way though because it was a great victory over a young titleholder.

 

Luis Collazo and Josesito Lopez almost KO Thurman. I can't imagine the pounding JMM would give him.

Maybe Spence would have too much of a size advantage.

 

Not really. I'm a Spence fan, he just didn't look that impressive for a long portion of that fight. It was pretty even until Kell's body broke.

Thurman is at least as good as Garcia and Porter, if not better. Whether you think he won or lost those fights, he's right up there with some of the best in the division.

I don't think Thurman is as good as Brook, but he's definitely a very good fighter. And while Spence beat Brook, he got hit a lot in that fight and didn't look good in the early rounds. Once we see Spence vs Porter, we'll know how he compares to Spence.
