Many people saw it that way. I think there is a fine line between running and boxing. Oscar was dancing over that line the entire nite. Just saying I didnt have him as far ahead as some people did.
I think he should of slugged it out with Tito. He coasted those last couple rounds and it didn't impress the judges. He was still winning the fight regardless.
He was favourite to beat Pac so that’s a judgement that is clearer with hindsight. Pacquiao that night might have beaten any version of Oscar. He slowed down over the last few rounds against May, that was a trait in his career. Would the result have been any different if they’d met earlier? And, honestly, I don’t feel he should have won the Tito fight. A draw maybe would have been fairer. He arguably got the rub of the green on other occasions too. I think the number of losses on his record are a fair reflection of him as a fighter.
If he’d slugged it out with Tito, he’d have got stopped. He just didn’t need to get on his bike quite so enthusiastically.
Eh..he might of been knocked out or knocked down. I think Oscar felt Tito's punches and could feel that he was still very strong where as he was out of gas. He may have been a fatigue knockdown but there is no denying Oscar had a history of fading late. This was just the most extreme example of it
Oscar had four pretty big flaws that prevented him from being a true all time great. 1. No right hand. 2. Poor stamina 3. Too stiff and rigid. 4. Not the highest ring IQ.
His biggest flaws were these: 1. Tactical issues. He lost the Tito fight (officially anyway) because he didn't go for it at the end. He lost the first Mosley fight because he fought like an aggressive robot instead of a tactical boxer. 2. Lifestyle. He burned out at a somewhat young age and sometimes gassed in fights because he wasn't dedicated year round and loved drugs and alcohol.
I am not so sure Tito would knock him out. It would have been a better fight if they did. He didn't give Tito a chance to KO him in that fight. But he controlled the whole fight.
I look forward to that fight probably more than any fight in my life. That had to be the next Leonard/Hearns type of matchup. Sept 18. It was a letdown all the way around.
From opening if he jumped but I think that is what Tito was expecting. That is probably what he wanted. It's hard to say. They both could punch but Oscar had the right idea to box I just think he moved too much.
He was 34 against Floyd, fought a very competitive fight and lost a split decision against a prime Mayweather.. He and 35 against Paq and made the horrific decision of dropping back down to welterweight for the first time in many years. If you don't feel that facts merit consideration I simply say I disagree.
