No I separate the two ,I judge solely on ability , what a fighter is like as a man is incidental and should not be factored into his standing as a fighter.
When you say this, are you referring to your rating of him as a fighter, or conversely are you referring to your actual admiration of this fighter? Are you a "fan" in other words, is what I'm getting at.
Key distinction. I can admire these guys as fighters and even enjoy watching their fights, but I'll never be a fan of a piece-of-**** who batters, rapes, or murders women. Just how I was raised, I guess.
DeJesus murdered a guy over a road rage dispute. Fair to say he was no angel, even though he was likely high as a kite when he did it. But the biggest pieces of **** boxers have all been mentioned already: Ayala, Monzon, Butler, Valero, Lamotta, ect.
Theres a distinction to be made here between crazy and evil. Ibeabuchi was bat **** crazy (and dangerous). Whereas Monzon it appears was an evil sociopath.
Charles Kid McCoy needs a mention here. Had seven wives, the last of which he murdered, and lied to Tommy Ryan that he was dying and needed a fight to pay the doctor's bills in order to manipulate him in to giving him a Middleweight title shot (Ryan barely prepared and resultingly got knocked out). Apparently involved in many fixed fights (including against James J. Corbett) and committed suicide after his release from prison for the murder of his last wife. Paul Spadafora seems to be a pretty nasty piece of work, too.
Quite a few have done awful things outside the ring, bur as far as inside the ring James Butler sucker punching that guy Richard Grant i think his name was was just sicking to watch especially considering Grant thought he was coming over to give him a hug.
Why, yr Sugar Ray Leonard fits this bill perfectly. Doper wife beater children he had nothing to do with. Lying garbage ***** manipularive weasel.
