No, of course not. Cortez motioned them to fight on, and only one of them did. Cortez did a horrible job though, since he took the eyes of the fighters immediately after restarting the action. I think experience may have been a factor here as well, since Ortiz seemed confused while Mayweather knew exactly how he could take advantage of the situation. Edit: Ortiz seemed very disappointed in himself at the post-fight presser, if I remember correctly. As if he knew he messed up big time.
I haven’t seen it. To tie up is one thing. But when time is stopped and you are making out with your opponent that’s ridiculous.
No. I was rooting for Ortiz that night, he was a dumbass for not protecting himself and hugging Mayweather twice, He made a huge mistake.
Last instruction from the referee before a fight starts, without fail, is protect yourself at all times. Ortiz tries to headbutt Mayweather. Ortiz then tries to kiss and make-up and gets sucker-punched - completely legally - because he's a moron. Ortiz then quits.
And why the heck was Ortiz not protecting himself after apologising profusely to Mayweather for what seemed like the hundredth time in the fight? The guy was an idiot to not protect himself at all times.
Wrong! I hate FlIVd but the fight was back on but Ortiz wanted to keep hugging and FlIVd rightfully took advantage. Protect yourself at all times.
You can't expect 40yr old child that proudly released a video of himself laying out money on a table to behave sportsmanly. Ridiculous behaviour by Ortiz, but it took an ignoble fighter to capitalize on it.
Yep. THAT was DQ-worthy, and the fight should have already ended (with Ortiz as the loser) there. And then he approaches like a doofus with this "ceremony of apology" bs or however Larry Merchant's dumb old ass wanted to spin it, when PBF was clearly squared up & pissed off. Nobody to blame save himself. The idiot deserved to lose any way you slice it.
I totally agree that if Ortiz had done something similar, ain't no way that ass kisser Cortez calls it a KO win for him. But it was a legit KO.
