This content is protected A brief clip of Corbett vs Fitz fight in color. Doesn't look as sepctacular as other fights, but I like it more that way than plain B&W. What do you think?
So much grappling in those days I must admit the color makes this much more palatable, I found it nigh unbearable to sit through Fitzsimmons vs Corbett a while ago when I first watched it (not because I think they were bad or anything, but because I could barely understand what was going on due to the bad quality)
Indeed, I'd like to see all footage we have with that quality and color. Fitzsimmons was a monster...
Yes, he found Corbett with some very good shots. He also landed very strong rights to the body. People laugh at Fitz, but I doubt many would still laugh with the first punch landed on them.
This channel uses an AI (artificial intelligence) tool to colorize the footage frame by frame. A tool that is freely accessible to anyone. I've talked about this before, where automated tools will replace the highly tedious work of manual film colorization. This is the very beginning of this technology, which will improve over time exponentially. This is the spearhead. The colorization in this Corbett Fitzsimmons film is in its crudest version we will ever see. And right now, its pretty bad. The colors are very inconsistent across frames. Manual colorization is still far and beyond better, although that wont last long. The AI tool as it stands today works best for footage where there is very little movement. Something high paced like a boxing match with a dynamic crowd in the background and all the fists flying, it will need a little more time. Its exciting to see this tool in its earliest stage being used on boxing. Progress is happening, and over time progress will happen quicker. AI will eventually do far more than colorizing film. Over a handful of decades, it will restore footage beyond what most people today would find imaginable.
