So the rules are Both have to have real accomplishments at that weight You have to explain why Not Technical missmatches more like brutal beatdowns They have to be the same weight. So a few that I can think off are George Foreman vs Floyd Patterson (HW) Pattersons lack of chin, physicality and with the power to keep Foreman honest gets him brutally stomped. Not to mention the styles at hand and how Patterson would be leaping into Foreman's punches. Tommy Hearns vs Antonio Margarito (154) Bloodbath, Tony's face is cut up by the jab and pounded by the right hand whenever he walks forwards. Tommys footwork is far too good to be cornered as well, Tony gets broken in a career ending beatdown Bob Foster vs Mathew Saad Muhammad (175) Saad would Brawl and Foster would pounce on him and maul him about with huge punches but Saad would keep coming until he's eventually out down for good. Gerald McClellan vs Carl Froch (168) A walk forward guy like Froch with no defence gets clipped and caught by almost every punch McClellan throws, that would be seriously bad. McClellan would pummel him until he stayed down and it may take a while. Bob Fitzsimmons vs Jake LaMotta (160) Too much chin and grit in Jake here, Fitzsimmons just keeps on hitting him and hitting him and he would be a mess at the end, I have a feeling if it's stopped it's stopped by a body shot. Stanley Ketchel vs Carmen Basilio (160) Basilio showed weakness to Gavalins aggression, Ketchel brought that with a shed load of Power. He'd catch Basilio constantly until he couldn't see, he would be coughing and pissing blood and would most like be very bruised around his collar bones and hips Aaron Pryor vs Amir Khan (140) Amir's chin + Amir's Defence + Pyror's Power + Pryor's Relentlessness = Khan KTFOd Aaron Pryor vs Timothy Bradley (140) Bradley would be hit until he brawled and then he'd be hit so much it would be awful to watch, he'd be hurt repeatedly with his chin keeping him in it but Pryor battering him all over the ring
Floyd gets matched with SRR, Hearns, and SRL. And now we see Wilder getting matched with every ATG in the book
Honestly, Fitzsimmons vs Ketchel. Yeah, Stanley was a terrific agressive puncher with good chin but he had terrible style to cope with Fitz. He would come right at Fitzsimmons and got KOed by a brutal shot. Very few fighters could beat MW Fitzsimmons and probably none among agressive punchers and swarmers.
A walk forward guy like Nigel Benn with no defence gets clipped and caught by almost every punch McClellan throws, that would be seriously bad. McClellan would pummel him until he stayed down and it may take a while. LOL.
A mismatch constitutes one guy having literally NO chance. And while I would favor McClellan over Froch by stoppage, it's an exaggeration to say that Froch has no chance. McClellan was very hittable, and had questionable stamina. IF Froch could survive past 6-7 rounds, he could wear McClellan down. Again, I don't think he would, but it's possible. Foster-Saad isn't quite a mismatch either, although I'd STRONGLY favor Foster by stoppage. But it'd be false to say that Saad has zero chance. A true mismatch is something like: Duran vs Mancini @ 135 Chavez vs Corrales Khan vs Tszyu Roy vs Canelo Tyson vs Ken Norton
You put up that rule and come with your first nomination in form of Patterson vs Foreman? I guess we can put Rocky vs Tua or Ibeabuchi into the same boat....
I agree but surely there are worse match ups. Duran would be much more competitive with Pryor than someone like Hatton.
Nah, I don't see it being a competitive bout at all. Pryor doesn't have the tools or chin, Duran is basically better in every way. Duran vs Prime Cervantes. Now that is a competitive match up.
Dennis Andries v Bob Foster ! Dennis actually won his belt 3 times ,was strong and tons of heart . But against Foster ,I fear Den would be destroyed .
The problem with this is the stamina and beyond-Frazier relentlessness of prime Duran. And Prior, though I live him as a fighter, was no Sugar Ray, baby.
Froch would beat McClellan. Aaron Pryor is a matchup nightmare for a ton of 135/140 ATGs. I think he gives Floyd a beating
