Nope. He was cleared to fight so no need to inform him It's easy to judge from the outside but if you are dillian Whyte or hearn going into a fight for £millions and you've just been cleared to fight (so you are doing nothing wrong) who is going to take the moral high ground and say you know what we've been cleared to fight but I know let's inform them because it's the right thing to do Get real, there's money at stake and this is business.
But what we have to remember is so far nothing has been confirmed. We have an allegation some rumours but all we know is he had a hearing and was cleared to fight for whatever reason. Surely everyone should wait to see the outcome of the situation before labelling Whyte a cheat or blaming hearn. It would be so amusing if he gets cleared as most of this board has been quick to slaughter him without having all the facts.
Justify to me how business should be put ahead of a mans life potentially?? Yes we know they get punched and its dangerous That's what they sign up for... However they do not sign up to fight an opponent with a unnatural advantage That is where business becomes crime
It’s okay for you to justify it, but you’re not the one getting punched in the head by someone with an “adverse finding”. The Rivas camp should have been informed. End of. Let’s see what happens...
Business....you’re supposed to be a boxing fan ffs. It’s not your money at stake, and this is someone’s health, any decent person would be outraged at this. They didn’t tell Rivas because he could have walked away or even demanded more money. If Rivas had got hurt though, he would not have been covered by the insurance, but hey-ho, it’s just business.
Oh god, is this another armchair boxing millionaire promoter only without the money and who lives in a council semi?
It doesn't have to be justified and business doesn't have to be morally correct. The question shouldn't be should they have told Rivas the big question should be why was he cleared to fight? For what reason and on what evidence.
Rivas should have been told and he should have been privy to the reasons why Whyte was cleared to fight. Then he could have made an informed decision because for starters he would essentially be fighting with NO insurance.
Exactly, they didn't tell Rivas because it would have put the fight in jeopardy. And if you were hearn or Whyte you wouldn't put the fight in jeopardy when you stood to make a few million. And I keep making the pont but he w Rivas wouldn't have had insurance ? Firstly how do you know the details of his insurance policy ? And secondly what concern is it of team whytes whether or not his insurance was invalid ? I know I keep saying it but he was cleared to fight, it's that simple...he had a hearing and they went ahead. They were under no legal obligation to inform Rivas as far as I'm aware.... The only question remains a moral one should they have informed rivas to be nice. That's up to opinion but if I was Whyte or hearn I wouldnt want to jeopardize the money. Anyway it makes no odds what's done is done and until we find out the full story it's all just speculation.
Just out of interest....forget about being an armchair promoter just for a moment. A question to you, from one boxing fan to another, do you think it was morally right not to tell Rivas?
I don't see a moral issue with it. Because he was found not guilty by the board. If he was found guilty then of course but no I really don't see the issue if he was cleared and can't understand why anyone would think Rivas needed to know. Telling him wouldn't have benefitted anyone. If they had told Rivas people would still be moaning about something else anyway, the fight would have been pulled and everyone would be saying why did they tell him they had no obligation to. And are we forgetting that he actually hasn't technically been proven guilty of anything yet. If it turns out he is innocent then was there still a moral need to inform Rivas? No one will care, its only relevant when it suits an agenda.
Because 2 men died last week in the ring and the people who run the sport should be going above and beyond to ensure the health and safety of fighters. So it’s a moral question. I don’t understand why any boxing fan would be ok with this. I’ll leave it at that.
