If Tyson had fought in the 60s and 70s, would he have ever won a world title?

He'd beat Floyd and I think he'd have a chance against Liston (not a good one, I favor Liston)

If he runs into a prime Ali his head gets boxed off.

I favor Tyson over Frazier as well

 

He beats Terrell, Quarry, Elis, Patterson and Frazier, he'd beat 60s Liston as well imo.

The real issue is against Ali, the answer would be no.

 

Ali was not invincible like so many make him out to be. There were fights with him even early on where he did not look good. Doug Jones was no Tyson. Neither was Henry Cooper. Personally, I don't think he had the power to hold a young Mike Tyson off. Frazier was not Tyson IMHO. Liston was very straight up and I think Mike knocks him out, probably very quickly. This is all assuming you are referring to the 86' era Tyson. Tyson was not a standard traditional fighter, had tremendous speed and power, and had great head movement, (early on). Just my thoughts....

Do you think Frazier could deal with a harder punching, more explosive Tyson when their inevitable shootout happens? Their chins are about equivalent so unless Frazier wears Tyson down slowly (which wouldn't happen), he'd get ran over

 

I think the fact that Frazier is in there throwing back and hitting hard would have a mental affect on Tyson. Not sure I trust him in a dog fight.

 

I think he would beat Cassius Clay, once he beat Liston and Muhammad Ali was born it was like a new person took form.

 

He could beat all of them. But, could and would are two different things.

 

In the 1950s and 1960s he would have been an absolute wrecking ball,and Ali could beat him, but I think the older Ali learned how to deal with wrecking balls more than the younger one would have. I know Liston was a hard puncher, but Tyson was another thing to deal with in aggression.

 

Yes, Tyson would have won a title in either decade. As for Ali, there is such a small window. Can't say the Clay that fought Jones or Cooper, as we're talking less than 17 fights as a pro.

The Ali that whooped Williams did a LOT of things he would never do again. Bobbed & weaved, got under punches. Threw body shots, landed shots moving forward & not away. That version stops Tyson, unless he DQ's himself, because he would still be the same self-doubting-tear-jerking bully regardless of when he was born.

I think he has a good chance vs Joe Frazier but only if he gets him early. Inside 4 rounds. If Joe gets Smoking and it comes to the middle rounds Tyson is gonna have his hands plenty full.
Ali would have to be careful early. He could move and hold Tyson until Mike slows down. Then Ali picks him apart.
Liston? 40/60 in favor of Tyson.

 

Tyson 85-90 wins titles comfortably against Johansson, Patterson, Norton, Ellis, Terrell and I’d favour him over Frazier and Liston. Foreman 50/50 and I think it depends which Ali he fights. Best performances from both it would be 60/40 in favour of Ali. I think it goes to the cards even at 15 rds

 

Wouldn't feel confident picking him against a prime Ali, Foreman & Liston. The rest he would beat.
