I was a fan of Haugen's,....always wanted him to win. I thought he was far more than a ""Alaska tough-man brawler" like so many ignorant boxing media talking heads were always limiting him to. For God's sake, just watch the Haugen-Paul, and the first two Pazienza matches. I think he won those first two bouts vs Pazienza, and he definitely won the taunting, the war of words vs Vinnie....Haugen was hilarious with his insults vs Pazienza, as well as fat, moufhy, over-emotional Lou Duva...Haugen was a damned scream with his verbal darts. However, as I touched on in another post...the Emile Griffith thread, verbal **** can be a fighter's undoing....his mouth eventually got him in a world of hurt....vs Chavez. That was all his fault, IMO....I think that he would have done better vs JCC if he had just shut his mouth and kept it shut pre-bout.....and in the heart of Mexico for Pete's sake!!
You can add Carlos Baldomir to the list of POS former boxer. He just got sentenced to 18 years for sexual abuse of his daughter. Disgraceful.
It depends to who ... if you were a kid in the Frazier household in the 1970's , Ali was a real *****.
