I'd have Gans as fighter of the 1900's also Emile Griffith deserved at least a mention in the 60's. Good list though.

I had Gans and thought of Griffith, I did forget about him afterwards tho.
Gans lost more big fights in the 1900s than Jack did, that's why I picked Johnson. Gans has the better wins but also the worse losses

    Just for the real
World Roberto Duran WAS named fighter of the decade of the 70s. In real life. Not make believe.

Archie Moore went 67-3-2 in the 1950s. 2 of the 3 losses came at heavyweight (Rocky Marciano & Floyd Patterson). His other loss came against Harold Johnson. Moore went 3-1 against Johnson in the 50s.

Moore's best wins from 50s: 3x Harold Johnson, 3x Joey Maxim, Bobo Olson, Yolande Pompey, Yvon Durelle, Nino Valdes. Lytell and Bivins were washed up.

Moore's win over Olson is highly underrated imo. Moore was just a 2-1 favourite and he stopped Olson in the 3rd round. Olson was on a 21 fight win streak (wins over Gavilan, Maxim, Turpin, Castellani, Langlois). Olson dominated the #1 LHW contender Maxim before he challenged Moore.

Ray Robinson went 42-5 in the 1950s. Robinson went 1-1 against Fullmer, Turpin, and Basilio (in the 50s). He beat Bobo Olson (x4), LaMotta, Castellani, Villemain (x2), Graziano. Lamotta was past his prime when Robinson beat him for the MW title. Graziano was washed up.

Imo, Moore was more consistent and more dominant in the 50s.

His losses were a clearly thrown fight (under instructions) against McGovern, a points loss to a much larger Langford and losses to Nelson when he had tuberculosis. Hard to hold them against him when measured against his body of work and skill level shown.

McGovern had his last win in1905! He retired in1908!
After June1908 Joe Walcott won just 1 fight! He had 2 fights in1911 losing to a guy 5-9-8 and winning from a debutee.Walcott was 38 years old in1911!

You think Including McGovern from 1911 to 1920 is good he had his last win in1905 and retired in1908!
Joe Walcott won just one fight after 1908,thats good?

Good List? Walcott and McGovern don't belong on any list from1911 onwards!
McGovern retired in1908! Walcott had won just 1 fight after June 19o8 against a debutee and he was 38 years old in1911 which was his last year as a fighter winning 1 against a guy having his 1st fight and losing 1 to a nobody who was 5-9-8!
