Not likely. Would have to be a true anomaly. Most guys that tall are too awkward to be top boxers or fighters in general. The only exception of an elite 7 ft tall fighter that I can think of was Semmy Schilt in kickboxing. He was a bit awkward and froze up a bit if you closed the distance but was an unstoppable juggernaut of death from mid-long range - if he got into a rhythm it was pretty much a wrap.

No, it's a numbers game. The number of athletic seven footers who didn't go into basketball is slim to none.

Google says: About 2800 people in the world are 7 feet tall or taller. Considering that the world population is approximately 7.4 billion people, this means that the percentage of 7 footers is 0.000038%. This incredibly small percentage of people explains why they are extremely sought for in the NBA.

No. If youre 7ft and have any athletic ability you'll be getting a free ride to college and at the very least playing pro ball over seas.

I don't think a lot of those guys would make great boxers though. Too lanky. Only 2800? That figure seems like total BS. Look at how Schilt was built compared to most NBA guys.

Highly, HIGHLY(HIGH-****ing-LY) unlikely. I can't stand Tyson Fury and think he's one of the fakest clowns I've ever seen, but objectively speaking...... I've been a competitive athlete my whole life between basketball, football, and boxing, and in all my years I've never seen a package like him, not even close. That size, coordination(and it's a specific type), movement, I mean almost everything besides hitting like a stone cold broad. People really don't realize how rare a package that really is.

I've played basketball with/against McDonald's All-American's, pro's, mid-major to major D.1 players, incredible athletes, but I just can't articulate it. As skilled and coordinated as the bigger guys are, I really don't recall one that I saw that could fight at all. A few point guards, the smaller dudes, were always way more dangerous and would have made much better boxers.

Look at how Deontay Wilder is built. There are seven footers who look like that. The issue is that those guys can make 10 million plus playing basketball whereas there are only like five guys in the heavyweight division who can command that money.

There are seven footers who played in the NBA like Hashim Thabeet who made millions on top of millions while being mediocre. Julius Long made scraps for boxing.

Maybe someone like Lebron James or Zion Williamson....... But I know and played against the guy who was the highest ranked HS basketball player in the country, the guy who LeBron made his name against. His name was Lenny Cooke, 6'6 and excellent athlete, very smooth and coordinated, but a total biatch.
