    This is the issue.
At least with the IBF the fighter knows what he's in for, while with the WBC and WBA they rule on a case by case basis, usually in favor of big earners, powerful/connected promoters and fighters from the orgs nationality.

I favor the IBF's way on going about this, despite them sometimes having a ridiculously small time window.

That's what you get when you try and bully people into contracts by forcing weight clauses and fines and all the rest of it. There are occasionally situations where people get tired of it, and reject the bribery. Derevyanchenko, take a bow.

And now GGG can take back part of what is rightfully his. Canelo will then no longer be able to say that GGG needed a title to fight a third time. No running now gingerbread.

Yes. But he came out battered and bruised. I don't think he can take anymore of that, and GGG IS the smarter fighter, Canelo has now given all he has to give. GGG will figure him out and knock him out a third time round, I'm sure of it. Canelo is 95% of what he was before that fight.

The IBF as an organization though forces weight clauses on its fighters, the 10 lb rehydration limit required for title fights. This wasn't a situation of GB trying to force a weight clause on Derevyanchenko, it was a dispute over money apparently. And lets not forget that GGG demanded a bigger split for the Canelo rematch, so these kind of negotiations are never easy.

That said, the fact that Gomez signed some kind of an agreement last week saying that if a deal couldn't be reached by yesterday, that Alvarez would vacate the belt, doesn't seem too smart. That kind of backed them into a corner, basically letting DiBella determine whether or not Canelo got stripped by if they agreed to the offer or not.

I'm not sure that a purse bid would have been the end of the world for Canelo, but it's unclear if DAZN would agree to that. I mean lets be real, Canelo has a guaranteed long term contract with DAZN right, so if it went to purse bids who would that hurt, Canelo or DAZN? Probably DAZN more right since they would have to pay for Derevyanchenko's bigger split from the purse bid?

So I don't understand why Gomez signed that agreement last week. Maybe somebody can shed some insight to that.

GGG couldn't drop Canelo in the 24 rounds they have fought together, so I highly doubt at 37 years old, GGG will manage to stop Canelo.

How is that harsh on Canelo ? The guy that shouldn`t be a champion in the first place? This title was gifted to him. He didn`t win them.
How for once there isn`t a decision against him on the scorecards? Just for once for god sake?

Chuck Norris, as far as my and like 80% of boxing community, Canelo did not beat Golovkin. And it was not even that close as some people trying to say it was.
Both fight was easy to score and both time Canelo was gifted.

A puse bid would mean a couple of things. Canelo gets paid less, Derev a lot more and there's a very good chance another party wins said pursebid, maybe even a 3rd party. Taking the fight to somewhere else altogether, New York or even Kiev, Ukraine where the cards are stacked in Derev's favor instead of the other way 'round.

If it was a PPV, or if HBO was involved, Canelo would make less in a purse bid sure. But Canelo has a long term guaranteed contract with DAZN. So it's a little different when we're talking about a fight that wouldn't be a PPV, that is just a regular mandatory, on a network that is already guaranteeing Canelo a set amount of $$ per fight.

There are other conisderations too, the fact that Derevyanchenko has only just recently been re-established as a mandatory. He wasn't a mandatory when Canelo beat Jacobs in May. So why would an offer need to be made so soon to fight someone that has only just became a mandatory, Canelo hasn't even had a first defense from a title he just won.

I find it hard to believe that what GB offered Derevyanchenko would be less than what he ends up making if he fights GGG. But I guess we don't know the details of that.

That's the whole thing I'm talking about. If there's a pursebid, there's a very big chance it won't be on DAZN and actually goes to another network that can chose (and probably will) put it on PPV.
Other parties can bid on the fight and knowing a PPV with Canelo in it will probably be at least a moderate succes, bidders will probably come out of the woodwork from every angle. Pursebids overrule any exclusivity a fighter has on a network and if outbidded, only thing they can do is either comply or vacate.

Oscar gets so carried away with this A-side stuff that he thinks the other fighter should just automatically take whatever crumbs he offers to him. Somebody earlier called him a blight on the sport, and that is the perfect word for him. I think Canelo could do better for himself without him

Hahaha...I'm happy to hear this. Canelo's dream of unification vanish into thin air only in four months. :applaudit:

Well...that's what you get when you neglect your duty to defend against mandatory challenge.
