Canelo stripped of IBF belt

No one even knows what the hell a WBC Franchise Champ is lol. The WBC just created something new out of nowhere and assigned it to Canelo instead of the normal World Title which he was holding. It's a odd designation but it's still a World Title is it not? I mean we have "regular" world title holders not being considered champs, we have interim champs, the whole thing has gotten way out of hand, but at the end of the day Canelo is the Lineal Champ and never lost the legit WBC World Title.

But you're right that in the court of public opinion if every other belt gets unified now there's always going to be this other step to becoming undisputed due to this Franchise tag. It's an absolute sham for the WBC to do that to Canelo, to basically take away his legit World Title status just like that. If Canelo beats Andrade for the WBO and if GGG beats Derev for the IBF for a Canelo GGG title match to not be seen as for the Undisputed is utterly ridiculous, and it should bother any true fan of the sport.

What's the difference of having trace amounts of PED's in your system and having trace amounts of plaster of Paris in your wraps? Regardless of how these things end up where they do, a fighter is responsible. You fail to understand that. Canelo claims he ate tainted beef, Margarito's coach said he grabbed the wrong wraps and Margo used sweaty lotion. To me, both excuses are weak and both guys needed a more severe punishment. Canelo is the WBC champion as far as I'm concerned and all these "rocky road with sprinkles belts" are just diluting the value of the belt.

I think Canelo v Andrade and GGG v SD with the winner facing off is a great idea and that means we'll be seeing a unified MW one way or the other come May next year.
