Of course your gonna train for speed. But the point is that you don't have to be the fastest to win a boxing match. Otherwise guys like Khan or GRJ would be unbeatable. However if you are racing someone like Bolt, good luck beating them with just speed. I know I would have to take some serious **** just to imagine competing at that level.
24/7 testing isn’t necessarily all it’s cracked up to be. Some substances simply can’t be tested for. All you have to do is make some minor changes to the bonds in a compound, and you have technically created a new substance that isn’t banned yet. This is what they mean when they say that the testing agencies are always having to play catch-up. A new compound is created and then the testing agencies have to find out about it, get it added to the list of banned substances, and develop a test for it. With that being said, I don’t think PEDs are as common as some of you do. Only the elite fighters are ever going to have the financial resources to always be on the cutting edge drugs. I’m sure there are plenty of fighters on gear but certainly not all of them or 90% plus like some people are saying. Anyway, that’s just my opinion...I could be wrong.
As an aside Cycling is extremely riddled with banned stuff. Yes you might feel inclined to take stuff in boxing because the other guy wants to pummel you in the face and you want a level playing field. The fact is it's much 'easier' to win things in a sport like boxing because a big part of it is based on technique. It isn't just essentially pure stamina like cycling or other endurance based sports.
