I understand why people don't like him. I can't understand why people pretend he's had a car crash career. Yes, it could've been better and years have been wasted. However, he's still accomplished a lot and has years to achieve more. I'm extremely confident Saunders will retire one of the best Brits of all time now that a matchroom deal looks imminent.

My agenda is to give the fighters I like a fair crack of the whip. Their achievements speak for themselves anyway.

Yep it opens a lot of options for him if he signs for matchroom both at MW and SMW. I hope he goes back to MW personally though and gets the fights with Canelo/GGG. He's a massive chance in both of them if they get made.

Pretend he's had a car crash career? Let's have a look at what's happened since he won his world title:

A fight in a leisure centre against a nobody which he barely won.
A fight at crusierweight against a 41 year old.
A nothing fight against Willie Munroe in which the latter appears permanently on the verge of tears and the only memory being Saunders chavvy little scrote son acting up at the weigh in.
A proposed fight against Golovkin which never happened.
A proposed fight against DeGale which never happened.
A signed for fight against Murray which didn't happen.
A sighed for fight against Andrade which didn't happen.
The above didn't happen because Saunders was outed as a drug cheat.
A video of Saunders abusing a crack addict goes viral.
Splits with Tibbs, goes to Booth, splits with Booth, goes to Ingle, splits with Ingle, goes to Davison.

But yeah. Nothing like a car crash.

And yet after all that he's still technically a two-weight world champion. I really hope this works out with him signing with matchroom as it's the best for his career moving forward. It's where all the opportunities are for him. No fault of Warren's but it's best that they parted ways.

Not every world champion gets the same credit do they. I mean, there's nothing 'technically' about it. He is a two weight world champion, but even you are reduced to quantifying it, as though it's not quite the real deal.

Athough partly his own fault that BJS has flattered to deceive a bit , imo FW has struggled to get him the 'big' fights that never really materialised .

Seemed like the best they were ever going to get him was a Eubank rematch , and how many times did we here the GGG contract was signed , Canelo doesn't want to know etc.

I cam see him getting some massive fights and big paydays if he signs with Matchroom and chases the DAZN loot.

Ridiculous post. You should've just said "Lets forget he won a world title" because that's exactly what you've tried to do with your first sentence. Hate to break it to you Tony, but he did win a world title. In fact, he's won two at two different weights.

You then go on to talk about fights that never happened, while neglecting a complete schooling of Lemeiux that did happen. Bizarre!

Then you talk about splits with trainers which have nothing to do with anything Saunders has achieved in the ring.

You've literally ditched everything the man has achieved (which is more than 99.9% of boxers) to talk about fights that never happened and splits with trainers. Vintage Tony Hayers!

As I said, his fans hang onto that Lemieux win like some sort of safety blanket because without it there's not that much to go on. A string of very close, narrow wins. A fight against Akavov which he could easily have lost. Being confirmed as a drug cheat and so on.

I've not forgotten he won a world title. I've not forgotten that the likes of Sergei Lyakhovich, Kendall Holt and Gavin Rees won world titles. But at least I wasn't drooling over them pretending they were world beaters. Win a title at 160 in this era and never fight Canelo or Golovkin? Well done - you didn't fight the best at your weight. As for his super middleweight title, it's probably on a par if not lower than Joshua winning a world title by knocking over Charles Martin.

You asked why people think his career has been a car crash. To anyone other than a fanboy the answers are obvious.

Just a note on The Great Lemieux. His best win is probably a UD over N’Dam.
