Ali never molested any children. I must admit Ali didnt think of the hurt he put on Joe's family saying the things he did to promote the fight. he did go a bit too far

But when both Joe & Ali were asked how they felt about each other BOTH said basically the same thing. "We could probably never be friends BUT If I was in a foxhole facing the enemy the man I would want fighting beside me would be HIM " !!!!

This is admirable but for most fans its the exact opposite. I find that because they are fans they become apologists and if you say something negative about the guys behavior outside of the ring you get jumped on. If they commit a crime they are always innocent.

When Ray Leonard was a younger person he was not the nicest person.
Sure with the cameras on he was charming but off camera was another story.

Ray Leonard would come to a local boxing gym and use the gym but kick everyone out even if the people were in the middle of training.
He was a horrible boxing manager when he managed Byrd and Quincy Taylor and would seem to get jealous of any success they got.
And if the cameras were there he would sign autographs smiling and what not. Soon as the cameras stopped he stopped signing autographs.

I knew Don in Ft Worth Texas @ Dave Gorman's Super Pro gym & he was far from gay The girls loved him. The gay rumor came about because he wore pink trunks. Dave Gormans wife Loretta gave all his fighters coloured trunks.
Don Curry Pink, Stevie Cruz green Gene Hatcher black etc

Were you there when Quincy Knocked Leonard out while sparring he was still on his feet but OUT!! He wouldnt spar with Quincy any more. Leonard stabbed Don Curry in the back too. Don wanted to make a fight with Hagler. Leonard was supposed to be retired & acting as Don's advisor.Leonard talked Don out of it & to wait. While all the time Leonard was negociating a fight with Hagler for himself thats one reason he is despised in Texas

People forget that at one time Curry was unbeaten and Hagler hadnt lost in years. So essentially you had the two best pound for pound fighters getting ready to clash.
Leonard was slick as he was advising Curry to remain at welter even though their wasnt really anyone left for Curry to fight.
If Curry had just listened to Gorman he would have had such a different career.

That’s crazy talk. Why would you want a boxer instead of a soldier fighting in the same foxhole as yourself in a battle especially a draft dodging boxer at that?

I can't say what Teddy Reid did after or before boxing, but I always remember one particular fight of his. He fought a dude named Emiliano Valdez and knocked him unconscious him late in the fight. Valdez went down near the ropes and Reid literally stands over him while BS'ing with his Homies at ringside. Like this downed warrior under his feet was so beneath his notice that the most important thing here was to have a really good laugh with my buddies right over the stricken fighter. BTW, Valdez went into a coma and later died. All I could think of about Reid after that was, 'What a piece of garbage!'
